Default Is your STi downpipe is like mine?

2006 STi.

I have taken a look at the connection between my stock downpipe and my mid pipe. The bolt driver side is not the same as the passenger side.
I know the photo arent that great.

those pics were taken from the rear pointing to the front of the car

Driver side:

Passenger side:

Notice the bolt difference? Does your STI is like that? I suspect mine had some modifications in the past...

What is your thought?

thanx

Mart

A stock STi downpipe to midpipe has spring bolts on em. If those bolts do not have springs on em then your DP has been disconnected at some point or another.

can you take some not so close up pics. from first impressions, i can say it looks different than mine. the shielding is different and those are supposed to be spring loaded bolts there

the spring goes under the bolt head, not under the nut. The drivers side (although blurry) looks like the bolt head and i dont see any spring action going on there.

Are you talking about these 2 pipes or the catback? If you are talking about these 2 that are connected, there is no spring. There are springs between the catback and down pipe though.

OK that's what I thought. Then yes, there are no springs. As far as the bolts being different size, Im not sure. I dont have this pipe here to check. I am headed to my hometown tomorrow and can check it then. It does seem odd to me too that the bolts would be different sizes. Wish I had some better pics.

Your's are fine then if they are the front screws, only the back of the downpipe connected to the cat-back contains the springs.

The bolts look to be the same to me, I'm sure the bolt heads both face opposite ways (the left twoards the rear and the right twoards the front).

I'd like to know if it is the same on a stock STI.
