Sweet...I just got hit...

So, driving through my parking deck today and the lady backs out and hits me in the passenger side door, just as I was turning into my spot. The best part, the lady tried to say I was speeding (I was turning into the spot across the isle when she hit me) and that she was halfway out of her spot at the time (even though the front of my car is miraculously flawless). The latter went over really well, especially when the cops actually laughed out loud at her.

Oh I know, I forgot to mention I was drifting into my parking spot...that must've been my fault, huh...

On a side note, how much does this affect the value of your car?

good luck with that. I got run off the road not owning my 04 for 2 weeks. Its going to hinder your resale value pretty good. Body repair = bad on carfax...

Damn, that sucks! Should be her fault since she was backing. I backed into someone along the street. Nobody behind me, backing slowly, working taillights, this woman pulls right in behind me and says she didn't realize I was backing up. No damage to my truck, minor hood damage to her Neon. Insurance found me at fault. Good luck and sorry to hear you're selling!!!

If there is damage to the side of your vehicle usually insurance rules it is the fault of the other driver at least from what I've seen and heard. I don't work in the industry though so don't quote me on it.

that sux. hope you have a low deductible, if the cops aren't making her take fault and pay for it.

looks pretty basic make sure u make them replace that tire too even if its not bad tell them it could be weak cuz u dont want to have it have a weak spot and blow out on you after u get all of that fixed. u should put one of those rounded mirrors for corners in front of her parking space one day witih a not that says "to help you see the cars behind you" haha

dang she really did some damage to your car. they shouldnt have too hard of a time fixing it though. good luck!

well, just got off the phone with my insurance company (statefarm) and hers (geico). Both were really helpful, and the geico agent told me that she was at fault and geico would be paying for all the damages as well as supplying me with a rental car.

Here's where I need some help:
I asked both agents about the resale compensation for loss of value due to the accident and they both said that in the state of Georgia they must legally pay me for all value lost (SWEET!).

So, how much value was lost on the car for it now having a carfax report. Keep in mind I was planning on selling at the end of summer, and it's a limited. If any of you guys know any places where I could look that would show the 'street value' of my car that would be excellent. I'm about to begin a slow afternoon of lost value research...yay...
