'05 STi- Humming Noise

I try not to be too paranoid about noises but I fiugred I would run this by you guys just to be sure.

Background - I just bought an '05 STi about a month ago, has about 27000 miles on it. Seems to be taken care of, guy said he didn't drive it hard, and the way he acted when I was driving it on the test drive I kind of beleive him. Mods are FMIC, fuel pump, exhaust, iintake, and shifter bushings and a sound system.

The noise I hear is a medium to high pitched hum coming fron the middle to front of the car. Sounds to me like something in the driveline. You can hear it at cruising speeds with the windows up. It is present at constant throttle speed and when you throttle up it gets louder. When I let off the gas it goes away.

I dunno what it could be? Tranny related? Wheel bearing?

Just another weird nosie I shouldn't worry about?

and your sure it's not turbo noise? cause they sound like that, i'm sure you already know that, just throwin it out there. maybe check trans fuild level also, good luck with it.

if its got shifter bushings does it have diff bushings as well? those will create the noise you speak of and it just seems to fill the whole cabin with the sound

If it starts around 2,600 to 3,000 RPM's, My first guess would be that you are hearing the turbo start to spool up. With those aftermarket parts it is going to be louder than usual when your turbo starts to boost.

Nope, not turbo noise haha. I have had a WRX and an STi previously.

It doesn't have diff bushings either.
