Ya, I got it too. They know the 05-07's are in demand now that they butchered the STI. I could probably sell mine for 30k.

Would either of you be willing to PM me your VIN (only need the last 8 digits) - or double check that value on the website?
GTP - What is your vehicle's value?

Value on my '05 was 20,300. At least one guy on Nasioc got the same offer. Typically on these deals the value is the same for every car of that model year, since you don't actually put in the mileage. If I could get a trade value of 23k for mine it would be gone by the end of the week...

It's funny, I got this kind of letter for my two previous new cars - a Ford Focus and a Pontiac Firebird - as well. Neither of which was a body style on its way out (at the time).

Guys, this is a DEALERSHIP ploy to get you in a new car. It has nothing to do with the current model, or even your model for that matter. I can almost guarantee you that Forester and Legacy owners get the same letter, assuming they bought from a dealership that's participating in this particular sales push.

No, check the website linked above. This is a Subaru-backed progam they run like once per year. (yes it applies to pretty much all Subarus, not just the STi.) Typically the trade values are much higher than the dealer would normally offer, but this time around most people are finding them to be not so great.

I have seen plenty of the dealership marketing type letters, and this is not the same thing.

Either way, it's still a simple sales ploy. It just means they want to get more new cars sold. They offer more because they can sell the cars as certified pre-owned and get more for them.

EDIT: Fine print -

It's a sales ploy.

Weird I was only offered 19,800 for my 05 in the letter. I guess they just don't like my car.

Could be worse. The dealer offered me $17.5K if I wanted to trade in my '06. Because it has 45K miles. I got the offer letter from SOA last week as well, but ... 45K >>>> 30K . That and I've got the '06 just perfect and don't want to start again from scratch.

Hmmm, I got the same letter in the mail for my 06 STI, but was quoted 23.3K, not 25K. My car has about 26k miles on it and that price was for anything less than 30K.WTF

Got the same letter... utility sounds great but for some reason I like the way my car looks just fine. After DP, AP, sways and Group N stuff in there no way I'm trading this car in...

I'd rather get some $ and spend it on a used Forester or something if I really wanted utility.

Now if they offered me to trade DOWN for 05 WRB I might pull the trigger
