Default Subaru pronounciation?

Ok, so my Grandmother works with some exchange students from Japan at University at BUffalo, and she drives an outback. And apparently they told her its pronounced "sue-BAH-roo" with the emphasis on the second syllable. As opposed of course to "SUE-bah-roo" like we say here.

Just curious if anyone else has heard this? Anyone in Japan maybe clarify?

If we learn to say it the way they do... does that count as a JDM mod?!

Congrats man! I'd say to take a drive out to East Aurora/the back roads of Elma. Willardshire Road is nice out there, Old Transit Road runs from West Seneca/Elma, through the back of East Aurora/Orchard Park. Where are you picking the car up from?

Well, the best part about the Elma area is there are no police. Other than 2 Erie County Sherriffs, and a few patrols a day from the State Police, there's no one else you need to worry about.

MOOG is right there on Jamison/Seneca, take Jamison all the way to the end, then take a right, go all the way to the end, then take a left onto I think 20A, follow it to FOUR ROD Road, I totally forgot about that road. There are many side roads, THREE ROD, TWO ROD, and they are fun as all hell to let loose on.

"su" is pronounced like the name Sue.
"ba" as in the name Barney (minus the -rney).
"ru" more like LU as in Looney Tunes.

Each syllable is the same length, so you would not draw out or put more enfaces on one syllable... I hope this makes sense.

When I was in Japan, working in Ebisu, everyone pronounced it with a slight emphasis on the "ba".

One syllable HAS to be emphasized more than the others. Its a basic tenant of the English language. Otherwise, its not a word.
