I think that a stage 2 STI will take the 335i but not by much in the power aspect of the car but in the twisties the STI will hand it to a 335 whether its modded or not.......but with a Dinan Tune the 335i puts out 384hp/421tq.......at stage 1 in the 335 its bye bye STI in a straight line. Plus with the Dinan you get to keep your warranty!!!!

I think the title has been unanimously addressed...Stage 2 STi > stock 335i. Now we're just arguing modded cars, which is hopeless since both cars can be modded to outperform the other in some way. Bottom line is that the 335 has 3.0L and 2 turbos. That's just a more flexible starting point for power. I love the STi, and I wouldn't buy a 335 over it, but that doesn't negate the fact that the 335 is freakin' fast.

Drag radials on the 12/4 run. Either way, like I said before, the 335 wins stock for stock and in stage 2 form, assuming both drivers are at the same level.

To be fair, all sport package equipped 335s come with an oil cooler so thus do not need the Dinan addition. Also, that exhaust adds 4 hp. The tune takes the car from 330hp to 380hp. Why do I say 330hp stock, because a stock 335 puts down 260-280 to the wheels stock. The Dinan tune does not add 80hp it adds 50hp.

So having owned (until someone stole it) a stage 2 04 STi, having test drove a few 335s and am going to take delivery on a 335 a week from Saturday, I think its going to be a driver's race between a stage 2 STI and a stock 335. The reason being that they both make similar whp, but the 335 is heavier by a couple hundred lbs. If you know how to drive your stage 2 STi, you will beat the stock 335.

As far as modified 335s... forget about it. With just a tune they are making 320-340 whp (yup thats wheel horse power) and with down pipes they make 360-400 whp. Check it out on e90 and other BMW forums if you doubt me. With that kind of power, you will need a much better turbo to keep up.

^ exactly! even the AA chip gives the 335 55whp alone! sorry for the semi thread jack, just wanted to express how amazing the 335 can be for being around for such a short time

true but the original post said "I know the 335 can waste an Sti Stock but how do the Stage 2 numbers compare?" which could imply they are both stage 2... we're just breaking down all possible situations

So, if BMW claims 300 out of the 335, and the E46 has 333 (i think) according to BMW.... soooo if all works out according to theory, a stage 2 sti should absolutely walk on a 335. It was a highway run from about 45 to 120 or so. So, I'd say a stg.2 sti will take the 335 all day
