that came down to drivers... its not by that much but the 335 is the faster car

my point was if that STi is stock and it was a drivers race, stage 2 would walk it

Stock for stock the cars are about even, with the STi being somewhat faster.

Stage 2 vs stock 335, you'll easily win.

As mentioned above, when aftermarket Tunes/ECU's/Piggybacks are added to the 335 you'll really have your hands full.

when german cars says they are rated 300hp... the WHP is pretty close to that mark where as Japanese cars tend to over state their HP numbers.

300 German HP = 280-290 at the wheels
300 Japanese HP = 240-250 at the wheels.

I have driven a stock 335i and a stage 2 335i.

drag race:
stock for stock = 335i wins
Stg 2 vs Stg 2 = 335i wins

on the track that's a different story STI will win stock vs stock and Stg 2 vs Stg 2. If you are buying an STI for straight line speed... you bought the wrong car. STI are made for the track. Dollar for Dollar there are lot of cars (American Muscle) that will beat and STI in a straight line but not many cars can take an STI on the track.

its a completely different animal..

the STi delivers all of its torque in a sudden onslaught whereas the 335i is very linear

some of u are talking out of ass. flame me if u want but run a 335i and talk about it. dont read all the magazine **** and assume that they are crazy fast. when my sti was stock i raced one on the freeway guess who won, i did and same day raced another one from the dig, guess who won? i did and i bogged my launch. one was auto and other was manuel but 335i really have no difference between auto or stick.. so if ur racing a stock 335i on a stg2 sti. its no brainer.

There is a difference between auto and manual. The auto will always start in 2nd gear by default, regardless in normal or sport mode. It could very well be that the guy didn't know that and was starting in 2nd gear. I'm not going to flame you but how do you know the other driver were actual trying their hardest to race you on the freeway, maybe they were just having a little fun without acting like an idiot. For all you know they were shifting at 4k rpms.

because auto 335i was someone i knew and he wanted to run on the freeway cuz he was scared to go from a dig. (AWD>RWD). from a dig was this random guy in stick 335i.
