Default Help me decide...I'm going crazy! Lol

Hey fellow STi'ers.

I currently own a 2006 OBP STi with full suspension mods, Stage 2, and some bits here and there...look at my journal for a full list of mods...My Journal

Mods totaled close to $15k maybe a thousand or two more...

My dilemma revolves around the new 2008 STi. The more and more I see the thing, the more I get this itch to trade my car in. Help steer me in the right direction. There are so many good reviews on the car, it's engine, the suspension...and the fact that it's now a hatch and has the convenience of extra room in the rear is steering me closer and closer to trading my beloved 06.

The problem is I can't see myself getting rid of her...she is so unique and I've put some hard earned cash and time into her...*read I installed 99% of the parts*

Don't get me wrong I love my car now...it's an absolute beast and I can't stop smiling whenever I drive her.

Currently I owe less than $18k on the car. She is 1.5 years old and is in immaculate condition. 15k on the ODO.

I have a few questions for you guys...along with the needed help regarding whether I should trade her in or not...

If I were trade her in, I would definitely put all the stock parts back on and sell everything that's on her right now...how would trading in the car with my 18k debt work anyway? I figure I could get close to $10-13k back from parts and use that towards a downpayment.

Help?!

Here's a few

pictures for you guys:

Ahhh feels good to vent

Happy Motoring!

Kind Regards,
Ryan

Yeah, i would keep it... you'll be losing money, probably a considerable amount, if you chose to return to stock, sell your mods, trade in, then start modding all over..... the 08s are tempting, but i would say stick with what you got

Why would you sell such a beautiful and wonderful car? IMHO, buy yourself a set of new wheels and complete what is a remarkable package. You have made a work of rolling art and finesse there.

Are you crazy? Your car looks so sweet. At least wait till 09 comes out maybe they have a little more power, right now you will be trading for a less power, less handling, uglier car. This is all based on the mods you have, so relax 08 people.

keep the car, you are crazy. Not sure what mods you have, but the values that i have heard for "returns" on car parts is usually around 60-70%... so i would expect you to only get about 10K for your mods. Wait a while on the 08s... personally, i dont know how this is even a question, i have seen the 08s in real life, and i still think they look like dropped RX300's

Ahhh, words of reassurance. What would I do without you guys!

I just needed some direction as I knew where you guys would go with this decision... I somewhat cheated in knowing that you guys would all say she's a keeper.

Don't worry fellas, wheels are in order...stock BBS will be powdercoated, per BBS' recommendations of course, anthracite or some shade of grey and will become dedicated track wheels. JDM spats are in the car ready to be painted, not to mention some uber cool JDM clear sidemarkers...group-n engine mounts/tranny mount and kartboy pitch stop will be in order shortly.

Going to flush all the fluids, aside from coolant, on my next oil change. Likely will go with Motul Gear 300 for the tranny and Subaru OEM LSD fluid in the rear...MAYBE and I mean MAYBE Motul for the rear diff...need to research a bit more on that.

Ah...it never ends.

Thanks for the great words and compliments fellas. I really appreciate it!

Happy Motoring to all...I'll update pix as soon as stuff comes in and gets installed.

I'm glad you decided to keep your 06. She's probably happy that you haven't abandoned her. SHow her a good time and stop thinking about that 08 (Don't be a slut!). LOL.

JK, but seriously, your 06 looks very well taken care of.

Don't do it you'll have to start from square one with mods.

Ryan,
Speaking fiscally, and fiscally only, had you kept it stock, you would have owned the car outright. I know I sound like a party pooper but you wanted opinions, and they come in various tones. Good luck
