| Junior STI Driver | no torque? just keep the revs up. i'd think it would be a problem for a DD... well not a problem, but somewhat annoying? I DD my in heavy houston city traffic for 7 years. Torque was never a problem, just downshift. Like I said, it is different then an sti. you drive it different. |

| Junior STI Driver | oh to the OP, have you checked out insurances for the car you want? you said you are a teenager. its going to be expensive, even if you put the car under your dads name. as long as you have the same address as your dad. insurance companys are not stupid. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm with you guys on the WRX idea. The WRX is fantastic. I guess it may be because this is an STI forum that the WRX gets less love than it deserves. I think its awesome fast and handles well. Perfect for college as it does not attract unwanted attention, has good safety, and is very reliable. Reliable and fun. What more do you want? College is about the college experience, and while a car certianly enhances that expereince, the car does not make the expereince. So the money you save can be spent on better things...like tuition, books, beer, and on your GF/wife. YOu can buy a brand spankin new 2008 WRX SEDAN (please, not the hatch), for less than $26K and it'll be one of the safest cars around. The older WRXs like the 2004-2007 can be had for much less. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Yes, having a STI in college will get you noticed. Its OK when some cool car guys/gals are interested in talking to you about it, its NOT OK when some vandals key and ding your car because they are driving something crappy. Double edged sword, that LOOK-AT-ME styling. Taking off the wing might help. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Make sure to factor in parking per month. Up here to get a good spot I am looking at $100-$150 a month. That is why I pay half of that and brought a different car. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2007 Trader Rating: (6) | same here. this is my first year with my new sti as i just bought it this past late summer. but my previous (first) car was certainly an appeal to say the least (2-tone evolve volvo s40 t5 with the black 19's chrome lip, etc etc, the works done to it catching every eye passing by) and i had to park it at the parking lot all of last year being as it was my first (frosh) year and i had to stay in a dorm on-campus (now i have a home nearby). but there were some here and there car issues on-campus to worry about and i was just smart about it to prevent any issue at all. yeah i had to walk the extra mile or two to park at the the furthest parking lot all the way towards the back right under a lamp post that had a camera on it. however, i had absolutely no issue whatsoever last year, sold it during the summer to get the sti and now commuting, i still park smart by going early and taking a spot in one of the ends...that's all, but it could really depend on your school and what's available too (my school is not in the city or anything like that fortunately) we're actually on the ocean giving us ease of rust/corrosion as mainly the only major car issue around here...just be smart about it for college and i would def say to go for the 04 wrb wrx sti...great choice, right smack dab in the middle between what you need and desire for now This ad is not endorsed by this member.
