Default from sti to evo x

Well it's been fun guys, but I traded in my 06 for an Evo X. Love my suby, but I had about 60k miles on it, and felt I needed something new. Still breaking it in, but I'm already in love with my new toy. I immediately could tell the difference in handling. The chassis is so stiff and rigid, the car really doesn't feel as heavy as it is. I've already noticed myself taking turns at speeds that were beyond my subaru's limits. I posted pics on the evo forums, heres the link. Enjoy!

Congrats!! Find anything you miss or like about the Suby more? Stock for stock, how would you judge acceleration, cornering, and braking?

Enjoy that new car smell

Congrats, but if you were going to switch sides you should have gotten a IX MR; but to each their own I guess.

I'm on the fence right now. I'm not sure how I feel about the gearbox. shifting feels great but third gear feels a little notchy, but the shifts are effortless. I say its a close tie with the suby. not sure about the braking yet, as I'm still in the break in period. That goes for acceleration as well. however, the car is quite torquey below 4,000rpm which was surprising. Cornering is where I feel a huge difference. With the suby, I always felt like I was being tossed around in the car, sliding in my seat. It was almost as if the subaru would fight back at my actions if I pushed it close to it's limits. With the evo however, when you carve up a corner, the car reacts so neutral. Its as if the cars begging me to push it harder. The harder you push the car, the more rewarding it is. The suspension, handling and interior are just superior in every way to my STi. In my suby, I always felt like I was driving a $20,000 car. When I would tell non car enthusiasts the cost of my suby, people thought I was on crack. But the evo really feels like 30,000 car. I previously owned an rx8, and I would describe the evo as a blend of that and my STi. It has the comfort, upscale feel, suspension and handling of the RX8, with the balls of an STi.

^ You didnt have the right mods But evo's are nice. To each their own. The crash test rating alone is why I dive an sti. Good luck with you're ride!

True, but with the right mods any car can be great. I was just putting forth my opinions and experience with both in stock form. I actually hear the X has great crash test ratings. I believe its equipped with seven airbags, one located at your knees (which I thought was cool). Either way their both fantastic cars and perform better than 90% of the cars on the road. I miss my suby, it was a great car. She was just getting to old.

Nah, never a fan of the IX. At least not enough to trade in my STi. The interior was to low rent. Plus, I don't think you can find any new.

Did you consider the '08 STi? Did you test drive it?

Sure you can find them new... You just have to know where to look. Isn't the IX superior to the X in almost every way besides the interior? I would say if you're going to buy a car for the interior get a BMW. Anyway, congrats.

Honestly.....no. I didn't even consider it. I would believe I'm a loyal suby fan (had an 04 STi and an 06) but I'm just disappointed with the 08. I really don't like hatches, so how it drives won't even matter to me. I could see myself enjoying it in the beginning, but regretting my decision down the road.

I think the only advantage the IX has is straight line acceleration. Other than that I'd say the X is superior in every aspect. Nah BMW's are every where. An evo's gonna be more exclusive. For what I paid for the evo, I could only afford 325i...boring. The evo was a great blend of everything I want in a car at a price I can afford.
