I just hope you won't regret this decision by not even giving the STi a shot.

Reason I am saying this is because I was all over the new Evo from the first time I saw it in the magazines and I disliked the new STi hatchback design. But after seeing both cars in person and experiencing them both, the STi was a better choice in my mind. I think you would have been surprised if you saw the STi, I was!

Congrats anyway though, because both cars are pretty sweet.

Glad you like it, but I would have for sure gotten a IX. IMO everything about it is superior, but to each his own... Have fun with her

Congrats on the new toy!

I was almost there myself, until I went and sat in a new X. That, combined with the laundry list of problems people are having with them makes me think I'll wait a year or two and then look again once they've worked the bugs out.

+1 with the difference i experienced from judging the 08 from pictures as opposed to actually seeing it in person. after seeing it in person, i give it way more credit than i did with my first initial reaction to it. however, it didnt quite give me that feeling i had for when i saw my 07 in person so i cant replace it. still, better perspective in person which i will now have to do for the evo x as imho believe that the 9 is superior

I've seen them in person already, and find it hideous. The front is great, but i'm not hatchback kind of guy, so it's not an option. However, the 06-07's are beautiful and I agree with you. When I first laid eyes on my 06 I fell in love. If that initial excitement isnt there, then it's not meant to be.

true...im not hatchback person as well in which the rear bothers the hell outta me too....but just saying that seeing and being there in person just makes the difference...before i gave the new sti's absolutely no credit but for the interior...now i just accept it and let be for whoever appreciates it...im sure i'll get a different view on the evo X's as well after seeing it in person... great statement btw, it can go for a lot of different things > "If that initial excitement isnt there, then it's not meant to be."

Speaking of excitement, that is why I chose STi over Evo. In magazines I was excited about the Evo, but seeing them in person I was way more excited about exploring the STI than the Evo. Hate the hatchback or whatever, but the STi looks so much more refined and out of the two its the only one worth justifying spending $35k. With all the plastic trim on the outside and cheap interior, the Evo isn't worth the cash. The performance is there, but that's it.

I can tell you guys 1st hand that the handling of the evo x is awesome. However, I think a properly driven STi (04-07, havent driven the 08) can definitely out-handle the evo x in the corners. On a nice, smooth racetrack I'm not so sure. The evo x is definitely a safer car to toss around in corners if you're not-so-experienced though.
