Did Ryan or Harvey tune the car?..... yo mentioned harvey before but never said who actually did the tuning..... Ryan is the in-house installer and tuner, harvey just uses their Dyno now.... i think harvey's been around for a while, but i talked to Ryan and he said hes only been tuning for like 6 months or so

I was going to have Harvey do it, but I decided to have Ryan do it instead.

I am pretty much depressed about this whole situation.

- I was charged $1135 for the install but was quoted at $675
- The turbo inlet pipe wouldn't fit (waste of $250)
- I can't sell the inlet since the installer didn't give me all of the installation parts back
- My original quote included installation of the CAI, yet it wasn't installed. The installer never once mentioned he wasn't going to install it.So now if I were to get it installed, I would have to get re-tuned.
- The turbo spools really slowly and power drops off really quickly. So it really isn't a good DD turbo and isn't a good power turbo

I don't really know how to fix this situation.

Do I get a different turbo like a FP Green with 8cm Hotside and 3" inlet? Thats another $1500 down the drain and another tune and install.

Do I sell the CAI, or get it installed, which would mean another tune.

My idea was to get all of my parts at once and get them tuned once. But I guess that didn't happen.

Well the only way to fix it is to either try a different tuner or replace the APS turbo. My money's on the turbo being a bad fit for the motor though.

I think you'd be happy with a 20g. A 20g setup running meth and a top mount will hit mid-high 300's for whp/wtq and will spool around 3300. The green will make more but you seem concerned with lag.

A new 20g with a meth kit will set you back about $2000. You can always sell the APS turbo to offset the cost though. Good luck with whatever you choose and I don't blame you for being upset with the results. A lot of us have been let down by a part and it sucks.

I live right in Niwot, so im close enough to know where Super is, i actually bought my AP from them.... i talked to ryan while i was there and.... i dunno... i talked to harvey and got the same feelings.... I didn't feel comfortable with either of them, and the whole experience i had just talking to them seemed a little off...... Im really sorry to hear about this dude, but unfortunately i decided against em a while ago in a few other threads i posted doing my research about them, as tuners..... wasn't happy with their results, especially with what harvey was posting on AWDpirates......
-If you have the quote in writing, i'd be willing to be you could argue that ****, or at least figure out WHY you were charged so much more.
- The inlet, not exactly a waste, get it back (i know you dont have it, read further)
-backhand someone! get EVERYTHING back, i would be LIVID if i were you dude, i cant STAND letting someone else work on my car, let alone do any performance oriented things.... call them, call ryan, and just be calm, explain your unhappy w/ your results and numbers, etc.... see if you can get the parts back or $$ for compensation, and a retune, its REDICULOUS what you posted to be honest, like i said, i would be LIVID
-Bring up the intake as well, if it was quoted then not installed, thats not your fault, if you want, make them install it and retune it (if you complain about the tune and ryan will retune it, then have them slap on the remaining parts and tune for ALL of it, and be present for the tune so you can express your feelings then and there.... i would be present for my tune)
-I dont know much about the APS turbos, but that curve and those numbers looked TERRIBLE even for OEM snail..... something is wrong for sure, but like it was said above, it could always be the turbo...

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions....
i wouldnt worry about the FPgreen and such, you paid like 7k u said and your unhappy, thats a ****LOAD of cash to mod a vehicle and i would have them MAKE IT RIGHT instead of looking into other turbos.... if they're stubborn or evasive.... talk to a lawyer and let em know your doing so, or tell em you'll contact the better business bureau.... their tune should change very quickly...... It also all comes down to what kinda paperwork you signed, if any, protecting them from putting out a ****ty end result and leaving you mad..... lotsa variables but i would be glad to help, if i can..... im not a fan of boulder, its full of snobby businesses and ALOT of assholes....

There is another option though..... PM me

Well, my installer conveniently wasn't in today. I will hopefully be able to talk to him in the morning. Hopefully I will have good news for everyone. I do feel that I am being jerked around here because of the install price and the fact that all my pieces weren't installed.

I hope I can get a better tune out of all of this too, but we will see.

Gee, I am juggling 2 almost identical threads here..

After talking to another tuner, I have decided to get a FP Green turbo instead. This SS42 turbo just doesn't have the power I am looking for.

I will be getting the inlet pipe and CAI installed at that time as well.

Well, it took a few days to get used to my equal length header sound. It doesn't sound like a Honda like everyone says, but it sure sounds different.

My installer wants to install the APS CAI and re-tune the car. Maybe he can get a little more power out of it.

I am bringing the car back into the shop in the morning. The installer will install the CAI and retune.

I ran out of money after buying all of the APS parts so I won't be able to buy a new turbo for awhile. I figure I will go Dominator 3R instead of FP Green since it is supposed to spool faster and have more top end.

In the mean time, the tuner is going to see what he can do.

I talked to Ryan at Super Rupair and he has actually been very nice. So I am sticking with them for now. Although if I go with the Dom 3R, I may go down to revolutions for the tune and install.

The bad news is I have had a pretty bad oil leak from one of the oil lines. Ryan is going to fix that as well. It has made a mess on the undercarriage and downpipe though

Relatively slow spool and quick torque dropoff.

Ryan was a really cool guy when i talked to him, but i think i'll be opting for Revolutions performance install and tune, or get a group tune together and fly someone in.... good luck though, and i still think that your slow spool, low tq was mostly the result of the tune.... if ryan retunes it and it kicks ass, let us know, the graphs you posted were just weird looking for tq and such
