I told the tuner I was more concerned with area under the curve instead of peak horsepower. So who knows that the dyno will read. We have crappy 91 octane here in Colorado.

Yeah pretty much. It is exactly what I want for my car. The reviews have been really good for it. I have never taken my car to the track and don't plan on it, so I don't need adjustability.

Any reason why I should go with the wheels before the RB320?

Well I got a phone call from my tuner this afternoon about the tune. The numbers are lower then I expected, but like I said before, I am at 5200ft on 91octane. I also asked for a conservative tune.

He said peak horespower was in the 290s and peak torque was in the 340s.

It is interesting how people are getting these same numbers with just TBE, fuel pump, injectors and protune.

The dyno is a dyno dynamics.

I will try to get a dyno graph up here sometime today.

5200 feet and 91 octane will be the bane of your existence.

I'm at 2400ft, and 91 octane is the choice beverage around here as well, and that sucks. I can't imagine another 3000 feet and the effect it would have on power.

Well, the upside is that everyone in your area is stuck with the same problem. Be sure to get retuned if you ever move to sea level. Your boost pressure will go through the roof.

By the way, you'd really benefit from meth/water injection. So far you're going with the best of everything parts wise, so I suggest the top of the line Aquamist kit - the HFS-5. It'll add a healthy dose of octane, cooling, and power. Something to consider.

Thanks for the advice and consolation! I am actually going to get an E-85 tune since there is a station about 3 miles from my house. Would I get much benefit from meth if I am using E85?

Probably. I would think that even with the high octane of E85, you need to use about 1.3 times as much fuel, so the meth should still benefit you.

Ok, I have pictures of the dyno charts. I am kind of disappointed. It seems to spool slow and then it loses power pretty quickly.

Also, my installer didn't install the 70mm CAI either. I didn't get a chance to ask him why he didn't do that. Not sure if that would have made any difference.

On the street I definitely noticed the lag. The car sounds a lot quieter now with the headers.

That's not spooling slow at all.

That's 21 PSI before 4k RPM. That's not bad at all considering the size of the turbo (compared to the VF43).

The torque drop off is unreal though. It just hits a wall after hitting peak boost, and then just dies out.

How solid is your tuner? I'm not calling him out or anything, just wondering if his tuning technique or experience could be a reason for the results...? What do 20G's or protuned Stage 2 setups put down on that dyno?

BTW, the only reason to install the 70mm would be if this turbo was pegging the MAF on the 65mm.

Yeah, I am not sure why the torque just drops off like that.

There is no heatshielding around the turbo.

Would that explain the dropoff?

The tuner is relatively new. I think he has only been tuning since the fall.

^Heatshielding around the turbo shouldn't matter *that* much. It would eventually cause TMIC heatsoak, especially if the fan setup on the dyno wasn't all that great. Did you see your car on the dyno and how the fans were arranged?

I know you've spent a significant amount of money on your car already, but I would consider getting another tuner to at least look at logs, or ideally have them retune it. I'm not sure who's around in Colorado but I'm sure you could get some info on the regional forum on here or NASIOC.

It just seems like something either mechanically or in your tune is causing your car to under-perform.

Unless it's just the turbo.....???

I think I will take it to another tuner eventually. Maybe i will make the drive over to Cobb for the summer.

Or I could try adam at revolutions performance in Colorado springs.

Or.... maybe the turbo just isn't that good........

+1 on a different tuner. that a lotta money for not much performance. i dont mean to discourage you by any means. but im stock snail at only 18psi pushing 385whp and 325wtq on a mustang (low reading dyno).
