So, I will soon be in a prime position to purchase my first STI. I cannot wait. I have serveral questions and I couldn't think of a better group of people to ask. You all seem very informed and knowledgeable. Here I go:

1) Which year(s) should I be looking at considering it will be my first Subaru
2) Aside from the usual reading on here and wiki, what are other suggested readings?
3) What is the average up keep (aside from oil changes and what have you), cost of non typical breaking equipment?

Well thats all I have for now. Thank you all in advance for all of the help. hopefully through everybody's advice and the reading on here, I am able to make a better informed decision about what model year to purchase.
