Default My little track project. sz55, dr525, ewg..finally on track w/ in car footage

So here's the starting point with 75k hard well loved miles on it.

I have the suspension setup just how I like right now with:

Ohlins fixed perch struts
RCE yellow springs V2
PDE v2 camber plates
groupn rear strut tops
whiteline roll center adjusters
whiteline race swaybars
TiC Clunk killer kit race version

With carbotech xp10's in front and 8 in the rear all on dba rotors






Until about a month ago I was happy with the performance and then I realized that all that coolant I was pushing at the track was leading to no good. Read this thread: http://http://www.iwsti.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=95480
So then this had to happen:








The heads and block checked out fine, even after all those miles of abuse, but I figured if I was going to pull the motor out to check the heads I might as well get a fresh block, and if I was doing all that I might as well get a little more power. That led to this:


So I finally decided that the best setup for me right now is going to have include the following:
Power:
Stock block and heads w/ arp head studs
Deadbolt sz55 w/ 3" inlet ewg and "fatboy" turbine (not pictured)
Deatschwerks 850cc injectors
grimmspeed TGV deletes coated
grimmspeed 8mm phenolic spacers
grimmspeed pnp oem headers and hf crosspipe w/ ceramic coating
APS dr525 fmic
APS turbo inlet
APS 70mm cai
turbosmart recirc bov
UR upipe with tial 44mm wastegate
Invidia N1 TBE w/ cat
Prodrive 3 port boost solenoid
AEM 50 psi map sesor and cobb adapter
Accessport tuned by scott siegel

Cooling:

Koyo radiator
Crawford water pump
crucial racing 160 deg thermostat
STi high pressure cap
samco hoses
Setrab oil cooler with thermostat
maybe no a/c its a hard decision

Drivetrain:

act 6 puck
group-n motor and trans. mounts
kartboy short shifter w/ front and rear bushings

My wallet doesn't agree but with a couple of defi blue racer gauges to keep it in check, it should be fun. I'll have many more pics in the next few weeks as all my stuff comes in and my baby gets put back together.

Are you planning on torquing the ARP head studs after 1k miles?

Nobody does it cause it's a *****. But I can tell you are a diy'er. Doooooo eeeiiiiitt.

Nice work with most of the plan, looks like it gonna be pretty wicked when it's done.


If you plan to drive the car on the street:
1. Definitely put the AC back in! It's not like you live in Alaska.
2. The Carbotech XP10's are rarely gonna come up to operating temp.

If it's a track only car:
1. I would go with a more agressive suspension setup.
2. Get R-comps!

flatthump: Yeah I thought about it then I thought about how much work it is. I pretty much pulled the motor out myself but luckily I have the head tech (I work at a subie dealership) to help me put everything back together the right way. I'm not so sure how well or in how long I could do it alone.

I just bought an e30 325 that has working ac that I love driving, so that's not that big of a deal.
Yeah I do plan on going with a more aggressive setup when finances allow which means in several months. The 10's definitely get up to operating temps on the track, even on 245 re-01r's, and I have bobcats for the street. R-comps will come eventually.

I planned on doing a more gradual setup change but since I have the motor out it makes it much easier to get the power side situated first. The car definitely handles great as is though.

I'm definetly going to have the change my driving style though, which is why I love driving the E30.

The only reason I even thought of taking the a/c out is because my condensor is a mess after 75k miles and I can't afford to get a new one.
