Default "Out of Many, One,"

1/22/09 - Most recent photos and changes on page 5 and 6.

I've been with this site from the time before I purchased my STi in Nov of 2004 in which I was recommended to buy form Becker Subaru in Allentown, PA.

Nov, 2004 - I paid $30,500 for my baby with 6 miles on her, I was a happy man till later that night when I got home to where I was living at the time in Clifton, NJ and found that under the street lights my paint job was covered in swirl marks . Well I saved alot of money but at a cost . All they said was that they would re-wax it.. I re-waxed it myself.. Thanks to some swirl remover I get the swirls out but it only last for so long.. I recommend Poorboys or Zaino swirl removers.

These are the oldest shots of my car I could find, May, 3 2005 right after I put the new wheels on : ) Holy wheel gap!

So what were the issues you had if any as the mile increased? I've had my 05 for a little over 2 years but only have about 10,000 miles (I split time with the Camaro) and have absolutely ZERO mechanical, cosmetic, electric problems, etc. Thanks.

No real serious issues besides my stock clutch going at around 35k miles and also the front caliper bolts that were siezed up and broke when I had to do a cv boot repair. All but one bolt on the front broke because of being seized up inside the caliper bracket . I installed helicoils using my buddys mill to drill out the calipers but installed a Brakeman setup anyway. I'll talk about the brake setup more later in this Journal when I get up to date. I also just did a warm compression test and pulled 135 psi across all cylinders, I think this is still within factory limits. Any other problems I've had were after I upgraded the 2nd stock clutch. I've been dealing with a lean idle/ rich WOT since then but I think I'm close to sorting it out.
I keep the oil changed on a regular basis and always check it on fillups, never burn more than half a quart in 3,000 miles, I use Amsoil 0w30 series 2000. I think these cars will reach 100,000 miles no problem if u take care of them well. We'll see maybe I can reach 100k before I put her down for a rebuild.

I've got 97,000 on my 05 STi. No problems at all. Regular oil changes, I started with Synthetic oil at 1000 miles and it hardly goes through any oil. I think these things are built to last.

Awesome. Considering that almost all STIs aren't exactly driven like Camrys...

I'm calling Pennsylvania, where the deer and the... other deer.... play. If I don't see a dozen of them strolling around during my morning commute I think something is wrong. There is even one park near here where those @#$%^ bambis have learned to "stop, look and listen" before they step onto the road. I kid you not.
