Red face Re: project rally sti

Sorry about that, did not mean to be harsh. Had a bad day and sorry for taking it out on your STI. I had no idea pods were that much. So I get what you did. Round tubing would look sweet, any way to have all your lights on one bar- so easy on and easy off?

lol no worries - I was just giving you crap for giving me crap

I actually pulled the 2 outside lights off as you can see in the current pics. This is in anticipation of the new set-up which will use hella 4000's instead of 700ff's. I do plan on the redesign being a easy on - easy off set-up. (possibly bolting it through the hood).

the pods and lights are stupid expensive - if my budget wasn't eaten up with safety items I'd consider buying one

So here I go with a my experience- I did the same thing like you 8 years ago to my civic(unheard of then to do) I come from Desert racing(fabricator) I did a slip on version with 1" od mild steel. I welded sleaves to the bottom of the actual bumper.(behind the plastic) The light bar slipped inside with two 1/4" bolts. I used PiAA's but they were not the big ones. I wish I had a pic they were similar in position to yours.
Interested in your new design share when done.
On another note: I put in a thread about WRC Roof Scoop. I am debating putting one all just for looks since its a lease, what do you think for the 08? I have seen two types yours and one that is more square and lower profile?.
Your thoughts would be great.

well a few weekends ago I relocated my radio and made a plate to hold all my switches (whenever I get around to that fun bit of wiring)

Today I installed my sparco safari 350mm wheel, momo hub, and nrg release

your idea is about what I was planning on doing - welding some stands to the bumper beam that the bar would mate with.

as far as roof scoops go, the one I have is a universal fit from primitive racing. the actual subaru scoop made to cover the spec c roof vent looks very similar - it can be bought through rallispec. I don't know where to buy the lower, flatter one - i've seen it on cars and it looks ok but I personally prefer the larger scoops like mine or the sti roof vent scoop

easy - I followed a couple diy I found here. I kept my clockspring by cutting off all the bits that interfere with a sidecutter (I did not keep the cruise controls so all I really needed was the 1 pin for the horn). getting the wheel off was the hard part - I don't have a steering wheel puller but I do have a pulley puller lol. It got the job done after a few failed attempts to line everything up right.

no idea - but it will probably be a tad over stock after the cage goes in
