The car has 4,000 miles on it, and I have had it since the beginning of July. As you can tell it only took about a week to get through the break-in period (I was putting over 100 miles a day just joyriding in this thing). I haven't done anything as far as modifications are concerned except the addition of an Escort 8500 X50 Radar Detector, XM Radio, and some minor trunk debadging.

These items came stock on the STi via dealership add-ons (the original gold wheels were stolen off the lot (thank goodness) before I bought the car):
  • 35% Tint
  • VIN Etching
  • 19" Enkei RPF1s
  • Eibach Pro-Kit Springs
  • 235/35/ZR19 goodyear Eagle F1s

Default My STi Was Vandalized!

Seriously. I hate where I am living right now. Friday morning I was suppose to leave to go to Tyler (which is about 5-6 hours away from San Antonio) for the weekend to visit family, but I go out to see my driver's side door open and my trunk missing. The neighbor's said three mexicans (one of them was fat) broke into my car around 12 midnight, disconnected the battery so the alarm would quit going off, and then proceeded to steal my radar detector, trunk, and the cd's in the trunk, and then ripped out my XM Radio. Thankfully the idiots didn't see all my good cd's sitting right on the back seat, and it seems that besides putting deep scratches in my driver's side window, and on several parts of the exterior of the car, that every other part of my car is ok. I did notice some scratches on my shift nob and on the STi trim around the shifter. The thing is that my car was parked in covered parking that is lit, and that the neighbor said that she and her daughter were out there, along with some other tenants that were unloading groceries while this happened. They also called the cops while the guys were burglarizing my car, but they never showed (who would have thought ).

I was able to connect my battery back up and drive it to the collision center. The insurance adjuster is suppose to come out on Monday and look at my car. Before I left town on Friday I went to a much better apartment complex (probably one of the nicest in San Antonio) and got a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment with a connecting garage. The place is also gated and several police men live there (though I wouldn't depend on them to protect me). Hopefully I would be moving by the middle of this coming week and will hopefully get my car back by the end of the week, but we shall see.

Default I Finally Got My STi Back - No Thanks to North Park Collision

My car was vandalized on August 28, 2005, which was about 6 weeks ago. At the time I thought it would only take a week or two (and that's the timetable the collision center adjuster told me) but it really ended up being 6 weeks. North Park Collision wasn't totally to blame since one of the setbacks had to do with the first trunk being damaged during the shipment to the collision center, but there were some errors on their part. Several times they found they had to order new parts (even though I specifically pointed out all the parts that would need to be ordered when I dropped the car off) and since the parts people only order parts twice a week it took some time to get all the parts in. And after I finally picked up the vehicle yesterday I found that the emergency brake didn't work at all and there are several instances of orange peel and overspray on the paint. I will be having North Park Collision (which just so you know is the collision centered owned by the dealership that I bought my car from and also the dealership that does my service) fix these issues but I know for a fact I will never recommend them or have them do any paint or repair work on my vehicle ever again.

Default Finally, I Got a Camera!

Alright, I finally got a nice camera (Olympus S-350 8 Megapixel, the closest thing I could get to SLR without spending $1000) and can now update this old journal.

In the 5 months this car has been shot with a .22, dented several times, been broken into and has had the radar detector, cd's in the trunk, XM Radio, and the trunk and spoiler themselves stolen, and all of this can be attributed to living in the ghetto on the west side of San Antonio. I have since moved out the ghetto, repaired the STi, and added some modifications:
  • APS Cold Air Intake
  • STi Short Throw Shifter
  • Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump
  • ECUTek Dashboard Display
  • APS 3" Turbo-Back Exhaust w/ High Flow Cat
  • Custom ECUTek Tune (via MZM Performance)

The average STi on MZM's Mustang Dyno:
  • 190 whp
  • 190 wtq

My baseline run with CAI, TBE, and Fuel Pump:
  • 210.6 whp @ 6000 RPM
  • 217.3 wtq @ 4000 RPM

My final run with ECUTek custom tune @ 19 psi:
  • 239.4 whp @ 5500 RPM
  • 261.0 wtq @ 3750 RPM

After the tune I was able to beat a few of the Barretta's that had previously smoked me on the highway.

Those eagle F1's look wide for a 235 width tire.

I've been asking around, and I hear they are very good tires.

I think might have to consider them along with the Yokohama Neova's and Falken Azenis RT-615's

Cheers

^^ Yeah, I most likely will replace these tires with F1's again once they wear out. I love them.

If you don't mind me asking, where have/have been purchasing those F1's?
