i can't take the pressure.

I don't often get arguments on NASIOC, and when I do they usually stay polite and are eventually resolved one way or the other. It seems to me that some people just refuse to understand how to communicate with others in a productive way. Anyway, the main reason for me bringing you up is that you seem to be the closest to running most of a kit from a vendor (namely Phil); and of course that you have a good chance of hitting 10s if you can drive it in the quarter. So for my comment maybe someday I will get a chance to go for a ride in that beast, look me up if you are ever over in Ohio

daily update - day 39

we're coming down the home stretch. we're spent the last couple days finishing the fabricating and heat wrapping the exhaust components and intercooler plumbing. i've got some port matching to do on the stock header before we wrap the center pipe. just between you and me...cast iron sucks.

pics - in order
- two shots of the 3" intercooler pipe to the throttle body, wearing a corset fit for a victoria secret model - complete with turbosmart dual exhaust bov
- the hot side of the gt65 wrapped in termotech insulation and closed with safety wire
- the intake manifold and tumblers are ready for installation. the paint take 7 days to cure so i had to calculate that into the build time.

btw, had i forced a battan death march to completion on my original 10-14 day time line, this is exactly the kind of detail (lapping the valves and upgrading the springs/retainers are another) that would have been set aside. things happen for a reason, eh?

daily update - day 40

we finished heat wrapping the uppipe, downpipe, stock header center pipe and turbo. i port matched every hole of the stock header with a die grinder (not unlike what i do to my gf only with a much smaller tool and in about a minute as opposed to hours). we just ordered chinese food and we'll start permanently installing the turbo kit and header.

tomorrow:
- cut out the catted section of the b&b exhaust and replace it with a straight through pipe with new flanges, courtesy of phil grabow at element.
- clutch delay valve delete and ss clutch line.
- install the intake manifold and tumblers
- whatever else we can

thanks to everyone who post threads here to chear us on, ***en sti being the latest. i probably should acknowlege everyone individually but i'm a heartless new yorker. there are a few people who are planning trips to see the project. speednice is coming in tomorrow morning to have his shift bushing kit installed. donmei is flying in in a couple of weeks. how cool is that.
(he won't let me jump out of it, though. hey, i had to try.)

pics - in order:
- the uppipe is now double wrapped; once by phil in white tape and again by me in black.
- the downpipe (bottom) was wrapped twice. i removed the center pipe (top) from its heat shields, which was held in place with clamps and stuffed with the foam inserts. once i wrapped the flexpipe and laid it in the heat shield, the wrap took up enough volume to simply bolt the heat shield back together without all the other stuff.

looking good, B.C.

i have one question.....

shouldnt the ewg return pipe mate up to the d/p at a more slanted angle?? i was under the impression that it needed to be smoothe, and not abrupt (near 90°). this could lead to, you guessed it, creep.......

any ideas on this??? (sorry to ask, but it just looks alot less angled than mine was)

more pics!

phil's in charge of the kit, ese, so i'm going to defer to him. i have no problems with the angle once it's assembled. i'm not sure he could have changed it much and all of the rotated turbo's i've seen pretty much look the same. was yours a rotated mount?

Nice job on the pipes. Just a word of caution: if you sprayed the wrap be ready for the cook-off smell...it does not go away for *quite a while*. It's kind of a distraction.

My build is done, the car is tuned, and I'm ready to go play with the unsuspecting. The boys at PDXTuning did me well. I'll post a new thread w/ dyno sheet in the next day or two.
