| Immoderate Feedback Score: 8 reviews | I did a little road trip to the wilds of NY State yesterday and visited with Bruce to check out his project. All I can say is, wow, what a fabulous pile of cool stuff waiting to go in and on! Except maybe that B&B melon shooter which, visually at least, is (pardon me Bruce) completely over the top. (After meeting Bruce & Friends I'm certain that the outrageous exhaust tip diameter is perfectly fine with him!) Besides all the new bits like Crawford pistons I got to see Subaru camshafts and other bits of our cars that are normally quite well buried under various covers and gaskets. I am even more impressed now by the engineering and quality of these cars than I was before. I was hoping to see Subaru pistons too but a lack of very specific tools put an early end to the day's teardown festivities. Also, despite (or perhaps because of) the efforts of several folks, the ongoing oddities with the webcam during the 4:20 reports remain a mystery. Besides Bruce I also got to meet Rick, Dan, Pam, and a steady stream of other folks whose primary link appears to be an irresistable urge to jump out of perfectly functional aircraft. All great folks. Thanks to everyone for being so friendly and making me feel instantly at home. Depending on the day it happens I plan on being there to see the initial fire belch from the reconstructed beastie. If I enjoy myself half as much as did yesterday it will be well worth the trip. Cheers! |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 | day 11 as the motors hang...some more hanging on one stand is the old motor powerwashed and scrubbed. the s4 is hanging on another stand ready for the head swap to start. unfortunately, we need 13mm and 14mm 12-point sockets to remove the heads. we expect to have them tomorrow but we won't be back on it until sunday at the earliest. little ricky is ...er...pacing himself (isfh) and i have a skydiving event this weekend. element is shipping the turbo kit including the intercooler piping for the dr725, the uppipe, downpipe, intake, and the gt65 on monday. we should have it by thursday. the gt spec subrame braces have been shipped. except for a few odds and ends from local parts stores, these are the last parts we need to complete the puzzle. day 11 pics: - the engine bay is sparkling.- the e-boost controller, fuel pressure and egt gauges are dropped into the lotek a-pillar, which has been filed out a bit to accomodate 60mm gauges. - the tumbler deletes are almost finished. as you can see, the empty holes that used to hold the flapper rods still need to be welded and the ports tidied up and matched to the intake manifold. flow baby flow. - two shots of the right-side head without the valve cover. you can see the water and oil feed lines to the stock turbo in the upper left frame and a nice close-up shot of the cams Last edited by Neanderthal Racing; 08-02-2005 at 10:33 AM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 | words cannot express my disgust at the condition of my combustion chambers including the heads, valves and pistons. so, you think you are running rich with accessport? i used to joke about what my tailpipe looked like. here's what we found. i hope the pics i just took do it justice. IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 | pics posted above are the 1 & 3 cylinder. the 2 & 4 cylinders are just as gross but with a little more crap broken off and piled up on the cylinder wall. |

| S204 Racer Feedback Score: 12 reviews | Bruce, is the crap built up on the combustion chambers a result of the AP?? I don't think I've ever seen an engine look so nasty before. Todd |
