| STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I have been on this forum for about a year now and finally decided to post up a member journal since things will be getting interesting soon. My quick backgound of how i arrived at where i am today... This car always has seemed like it was destined to be mine. I have been obsessing over STi's since they first hit the states but i never even thought i would ACTUALLY own one before i finished college. I was getting tired of my DSM and all the problems it was starting to have. I sold it for $6000 in june of '08 and was planning on picking up a 2001 Impreza RS with a JDM wrx engine swap. The same day i sold my DSM i made my friend take me to local dealerships just because i had $6k sitting in my pocket and i wanted to explore my options. I was planning on checking out WRXs and LGTs but at the first dealership i went to there was a 2005 STi sitting on the show rack. My friend told me not to waste my time because it had been sitting there for almost a year and it was way over priced. There was no way i wasn't AT LEAST gunna check the car out though. Right away i asked for the manager of the dealership and not just a reg sales person so they automaticlly took me serious(especially when i told them i had $6k in my pocket for a down payment). They checked my credit before they let me test drive it and everything checked out ok. The whole time durring the test drive i was in COMPLETE awe. I had NEVER driven something that amazing before but i acted completely unamused the whole time. When we got back to the dealership the manager said "sold huh?". I just laughed and said "no, I'm not impressed at all. and $30,000 is way too much for a used STi even if it does only have 17,000 miles on it. I'd only pay $20,000 for it." his reply-"how about $22,000???" Then i said, "ok... SOLD!". Turns out they were going to take the car to auction that weekend and $22k was what they got it for and they just wanted it off the lot. Less than 2months after owning the car the mod bug hit me hard thanks to my friend parting out his WRX. I picked up a FMIC, short ram intake and tactrix cable all for $100. Another week later i was officially stage II with a TBE i picked up by trading another friend my 50trim i never put on my DSM(which i orignally picked up for $300). In early nov of '08 my father backed in to my car and smashed the whole front driver side corner in. I didn't get my car back until dec 30. So i was without my car for 2 months and now i've only had it back 2 weeks before the next thing went wrong. Now my turbo is blown... Now this is the part where "Project beat EVO" really begins. My friend has a 2005 WW EVO with the SSL package. Ever since the day i got my STi and started modding it he has been pouring money in to his car like crazy just so he can "one up me". He's been buying TONS of little things along the way that really make his car stand out. As his car sits right now he has got me SMOKED in the looks department but i've got him in the engine department simply due to the fact that mine is tuned. He is getting his tuned by buschur and throwing in a upgraded tranny and a few other power parts sometime in the next few months so if i don't do anything with my engine he will have me beat in all aspects. Since my turbo is blown it's time to upgrade!!!!!! We're pulling my turbo sometime in the next week to make sure it is indeed the turbo and not just a cracked line somewhere. Not sure what i'm doing for a new turbo just yet(If you haven't looked at more recent posts I ended up going with a Blouch DOM 3.0r)... but i will say that this is the whole reason behind "Project Beat EVO"! The EVO is up on jack stands right now with no wheels or bumper covers and my car is covered in snow in my driveway so i don't have pics of them right now but they will be up soon enough! It's the whole reason i bought my DSLR!!! (Jack and I aren't really trying to out-do each other. We joke around about it, but we both have our own style and both support each other. We've both put plenty of wrench time in on each other's cars too. I just wanted to make the thread more interesting since I'm not dumping a new part on every 3 days. lol) Last edited by FQ_22B; 05-04-2009 at 11:54 AM.. |

What do you got coming for injectors? You should get your fuel system set up for top feed instead of the side feed bs. Get some 1000cc's | |

| STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | can't wait to drain some oil and coolant all over your face on friday! It may not be fun to take a turbo off, BUT, the new parts should all be here next week and i've got sunday COMPLETELY off so i'm thinking NEXT sunday is free beer/install day??? Oh, and i'll even throw in free hot wings and/or pizza! I also forgot to tell you... If you have a space heater, BRING IT! I've got 2, but they're tiny. It's workable conditions with jeans and a sweater, but not exactly the most IDEAL situation. |
