IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | OEM are fine, but eventually they do get old -- especially if you've taken them on/off a few times .... and the spacers are used with gaskets brah! :P I got'em on my beast, awesome goodness. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | holy f#ck me running!! so i fixed the couple pieces and finished putting the coolant in and went for the start up. wasnt quite running when i remembered....duhhhhhh forgot to torque the bolts down, thats why i got my torque wrench!! oh well, so there i am torquing down the tgv bolts and my manifold bolts when SNAP!!! i broke one of the manifold bolts so close yet so far. so i finished with the rest of the bolts and tried burping the system. my mom said she heard a little bit of knock then it went away. i kept hearing a metalic clicking noise....no clue what that is. the car barely stays on, i expected a rough idle but not a 100rpm idle bumping to 1000 then 2000 back to 450ish.....wtf???Last edited by armyssoldierboy; 12-22-2009 at 12:15 PM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | If you're on a budget, I'd definately look at having GrimmSpeed take your stock headers and have them port, polish, and thermal coat them -- it's not that much compared to new ones, and they'll definately be worth it. When I go with your turbo, that's what they'll be running on in my beast. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | A rough idle on a cold start is normal for a few minutes -- once the car warms up, it shouldn't do it, though. Start it up, let it idle for 5 minutes -- if it keeps doing it afterwards, somethings wrong. Also, you definately need to tune your ECU bro -- you're getting more air into the engine now, which means without a tune, you're probably going to run a bit lean ... you need to spray more fuel and advance timing ;-) Quote:

when i get back from spending the holidays in dallas, i gotta get an easy-out bit and replace that snapped manifold bolt then i can start it up and check to see the warmed up idle. maybe then i could drive it over to your house josh so you can listen to it (that metalic clicking noise) ....just make sure your hearing aid is charged lol Last edited by armyssoldierboy; 12-22-2009 at 09:17 PM.. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | no, i have some more pics to upload. i got some fine grit sand paper and sanded down the tgv housings and the heads to get the old gasket crum off. i stuck a couple rags in the holes and made sure nothing was in there before i reassembled everything. |
