Sweet ride! Any dyno sheets to show the powerband? How about some pictures of the car?

Default Re: My WRB 06.-UPDATED(finally)

Some mod list updates in post #1 and #2 has some new pics and vids. Currently running preturbo injection and an MBC. Next month I'm planning on a Blouch Dominator 1.0 and starting an air to water intercooler setup. I ordered an SP Engineering intercooler temperature meter and I'm putting it on the current Spearco to get an idea of pre and post intercooler temps and then will compare that to what the AWIC does.

Dynamic Racing :: - SP Intercooler Temperature Meter

Default Re: My WRB 06.-UPDATED DOM 3.0 came in the mail

So I ended up going with a Blouch Dom 3.0r instead of the 1.0. Wanted some headroom for a built block later when this one eats itself. I'll tune it conservative for now to about 20-21psi which should be around 370-380whp with my other mods. I'm going to take a close look at the compressor on my 18g when it comes out to see if there's been any significant erosion from the preturbo injection. Didn't see any when it was out in April for the P&L AVCS/turbo line setup and intake manifold port matching. If there's errosion issues I'll take out the preturbo nozzle and speed up the AWIC process. I suspect I'll be the only guinea pig around running a Dom 3 through a stock location AWIC so we'll see how that goes. As the car was dynoed I was running 72% max on my IDCs so there's plenty of room there. I also may upgrade my turbo inlet pipe to APS and I plan on ditching the Perrin can for an Element to avoid the line size restriction. More to follow.

Default Re: My WRB 06.-UPDATED 9/27/09 DOM 3.0 Installed

Dom 3 installed today. It's a really nice snail. Fit and finish are top notch and zero clearance issues. The only issue so far is it wants to hit 23psi regardless of where I set the MBC. I think it may be that the WG actuator might be set too high but I'm not sure yet. I'm also going to take the MBC apart and make sure it doesn't have something inside it gumming up the works. I'm leaning more towards the MBC being the issue. Going from an 18g to the Dom 3 I thought there would be a noticable increase in lag but there isn't much difference. The biggest difference is how the boost comes on. The 18g is like a light switch. Kinda like "wait for it...BAM". The Dom is much more linear. It builds smoothly to full boost without a real hard hit. Just keeps pulling harder and harder. Sounds nice too-alot like how a Supra sounds when it spools since they usually use Garrett BB snails (just alot bigger ). I'm shopping for a good turbo blanket that works with the internal gate. I found out my heatshield bracket is broken again. This is the third one that has cracked with the Cobb heatshield installed. I'll be assembling the bits for the AWIC and getting ready to install it soon. After that I'll be looking for a dyno session at COBB again to see what the result is.

As for any errosion issues on the 18g from the preturbo injection there wasn't anything that could be seen with the naked eye. However I did notice that it doesn't look like there has been any fluid going to the second nozzle in the outlet of the intercooler. It looks like it's all been going through the preturbo nozzle. I have a feeling it's because of the pressure differential with the first nozzle before the turbo at less than atmospheric and the second one pushing against boost pressure. I've also had some issues with the nozzle in the IC getting gummed up over time with oil residue and losing flow capacity so I'm sure thats part of the issue as well since this particular nozzle has been in for nearly a year.

any updated numbers? Did you install everything and not have it tuned, or what exactly did you do?
