------

I bought my STI new in November 2004. I quickly added Cobb Stg1 and a few thousand miles later added a TBE and reflashed to stg2.

Two summers ago at 28k miles I added a Perrin gt35r kit, smc alky injection, ssac fmic, and other supporting mods. I tuned the car with StreetTuner and had a lot of fun with it. I only ran the car once on a dyno with that setup. At 25-26psi on 93+meth with a splash of race gas (probably not needed) it made 415whp on KTRs Dyno Dynamics, about 200whp more or almost double what a stock STI makes there. That dyno runs with 0 correction factor - the typical 1.15 CF would have brought the car up close to 480whp.

After 10k miles with the gt35r, the ringlands in cyl #4 cracked. It lasted a full summer of abuse so I didn't care. I had a local shop - Synapse Motorsport - build the motor. After 6k miles that engine had the drivers side intake cam - a Cosworth cam - break clean in half. Cosworth warrantied all four cams. 2k miles after that it blew a head gasket and nuked some things in cyl #2 (hydrolock FTL).

We never found any "smoking gun" causes for the previous failures. I had that engine rebuilt by Ron @ RAW Performance, and here we are today. The rebuilt engine is back in the car and some final install + fabrication work is underway. While the engine was out of the car we did "a few upgrades"

Here are some videos of my old built motor + 35r setup from last summer.

YouTube - Jays gt35r STI 26psi 40-120 speedo vid

YouTube - Jays gt35r STI 22psi in-car pulls + sick launch

This car is meant to be a drag car that can be driven on the street with some sacrifices in ride comfort, NVH, etc.

Damn, sick build man. Sounds like it's going to be a monster after the motor is completed.

Today they pulled the AC out of the car. I was surprised at how easy it came out. Took like 20 minutes and not a single line was bent or cut. This car is not a daily driver and I never used the AC anyways.

Here's what's left to do before the car can run:

Pull gas tank sending unit and ship to Buschur
Fabricate new FMIC endtanks and charge piping and the new 2.5" uppipe
Weld a bung onto the gruppe-s uel header
Wrap uppipe/header
Weld the qtp cutout into the exhaust
Install DSS rear axles and aluminum driveshaft
Install new defi gauges
Install CF trunk
Install Beatrush super light subframe
All the underhood electrical connections, coolant lines, etc

??? I think that's it. Hopefully the dual walbro conversion will not take too long.

Oh yeah, the new oil pan dipstick that comes with the Moroso pan is complete junk. And the gruppe-s uel header comes so close to the moroso pan that I think it will be right up against it after it's wrapped I am going to use some adhesive-backed thermotec heatshield on the side of the moroso pan too.

I updated the to-do list.

Some parts arrived... the perrin top-feed fuel rails, dw1100 injectors, new front pads, and the beatrush super light front subframe. The cf trunk should be here next week along with the PFC front rotors.

And here are some pics of the headwork that was done by a local place. The heads went there for an oversize valve install / valve job and this is what I got. Ron @ RAW(Axis) was happy with the work

I stopped by the shop today with my new camera. I dropped off the Beatrush super light subframe and took a couple pictures. Paul @ Synapse is gonna start on the DSS driveshaft install tonight. As soon as the drivetrain mods are in they will start on the FMIC charge piping.

Under hood is starting to look better. Now with less air conditioning!

ATI balancer FTW!

Defis are installed now. Fuel Pressure, Oil press, and oil temp are on the steering column. The center gauge pod will stay empty for now and will later be filled with Boost, EGT, and AFR gauges.

The CF trunk is installed... I love it!

The beatrush super light subframe is also installed. My gruppe-s UEL header hits the subframe in the front passenger corner :/
