get whatever your tuner recommends. my .02

E85 tune..? interesting. i would be open to this only after i see someone drive their STi for like 60k miles running on E85, but i know very little about it. made of renewable resources, veg/ oil, blah blah.

be sure to let me know what the tuner's response is to this, i am very interested...

oh and BTW, not to pollute in your journal but, you asked...

exerpt from wikipedia (again)
Depending on composition and source, E85 has an octane rating of 100 - 105 [4] compared to regular gasoline's typical rating of 87 - 93.

Thanks!
Omar - I have the accessport listed but not purchased. i have a little key at the top, the items in red are purchased and installed, green are purchased and waiting to be installed, blue is purchased and being shipped, the rest is just my "wish list"..... i should however change that because if you havent read the rest of the journal, i have pretty much picked out my turbo and Crawford Performance (who makes the turbo kit) recommends using their I-speed ECUtek tuning software... however, since i have a local tuner who can tune pretty much anything from what i have seen on the local boards (awdpirates.net) i'm going to talk to him and see what he suggests. I'll go and change that right after im done posting this

Did ya find the boots you were lookin for?

I was sceptical at first but i know that Java isn't the only one running this tune.... the tuner himself advertises in his signature on awdpirates his best 1/4 mile time and such by running on an E-85 tune... its just something to consider i think, but yeah i'll end up talking to him and seeing what he suggests. Since i cant keep in touch through email, i'll do as java suggested and give him a call hopefully tomorrow if i have time... but w/ work then straight to class i dunno if i'll get a chance

Lol, pollute away, im too lazy to look it up and you seem to be enthused to do so lol... i didnt click the wiki link just went into responding to people, i'll check it out though.... looks like you posted what i was after though..... i was considering pump 91 + meth, but it looks like i could possibly run E-85 w/out meth and get the same results

Not a problem at all any questions just ask
You asked before about the accessport because of the stock mapping.... the 06s were fine, the 07s are what are a complete nightmare... the tune for 07 is terrible and runs WAY too lean to conform to LEV II emissions standards

Still, if your planning on adding any power mods like a downpipe you MUST get some form of engine management.... its just not important until you get the power upgrades because ur stock tune is fine..

If you not going to upgrade your turbo you can do what this guy do.

Yeah, with proper tuning and supporting mods, you can squeeze the living piss outta the stock turbo
I'm curious as to how long its going to last though....
(not doubting or trashing talking the tune, but to achieve those numbers on a stock turbo, the poor little thing probably has a reduced life equal to someone who smokes 3 cartons of Marl Reds a day.... lol)

Yeah, i would collect the downpipe + catback and accessport and do it all at once.... then buy maybe some larger injectors, a walbro fuel pump, maybe an intake... turbo inlet tube... leave it all off until you get the car tuned by a professional.... have all the stuff installed before the tune and the tuner can adjust everything to run perfectly w/ the mods you purchased

That, w/ stainless steel brake lines, more performance oriented fluid and such, rotors pads... the works... i have heard that it stiffens up where the master cylinder is mounted on the firewall... apparently under hard braking the master cylinder has some play in it and if done over and over will eventually wear out the points it is connected to... the brace is supposed to keep it mounted solid and apply the movement in the master cylinder to the actual stopping of the vehicle.....
