I mean just cause the tuner is well known doesnt always mean that is the guy... When i was gonna get my STI tuned everybody said go to this one guy, he is the best blah blah wont mention his name.. That guy almost blew up my buddies car for real he did some real bad tunes. A few other guys were like you have to go to Chris at XX he is the best, and i talked to him real cool guy very infromative I have heard great things about him but he ws in Conneticut... Anyway I was gonna travel to XX to get tuned, then just from researching around and stuff I found another really good tuner John @ Precision Tuning talked to him, like I said he gave me tons of info we set up a game plan I did some research on some of his tunes but I didnt really see tons of his stuff, but just from talking to him I knew he was good and he just gave me tons of info and it was great he is a awesome tuner but its not like there was tons of info out there about him.. So basically what I am getting at is you dont always have to go to the guy that everyone else goes to.. As long as you research and talk to the tuner and you like what he has to say and he pretty much tells you everything he wants to do etc etc thats I how I chose my tuner.. Hope that helps, but like I said before and like Ryan has said just find someone and a shop you feel comfortable with thats the most important thing.

Wow.... jesus i feel stupid now lol....i totally forgot the dealership in boulder has its own tuning capabilities..... Jon Cooly is the guy's name. I'll have to give him a call tomorrow hopefully and chat him up for a little bit. I have HEARD of Logic Imports, but never really followed it up.... I heard alot of skepticism about whether or not it was a real shop, or just a rumor, and i didn't think to follow it up... Have heard of revo performance in the Springs, its about a 2hr drive and i'd be willing if i could get some feedback.. havent heard of MAC Autosport though....

I was sitting in my car, thinking between classes .... I really dont want anything to go bad on the car (eventually it will), but with all the problems the 07 are having, why risk it.... I'll probably be putting my downpipe up for sale locally, and maybe on here, and then trying to find a catted downpipe, or just buy a new downpipe.... Who votes for ProTune over OTS stg 2 and save for turbo.... i'll turn it into a poll.... W/ you guys' help, i can start off in the right direction instead of just by a bunch of heard-say and such....

Since i'm still unsure of what kinda interview questions i should be asking prospective tuners, any suggested questions?

got my vote... i would:

1.) sell your catless DP and use money to help buy Cobb AP.

2.) AP stg 1

3.) order all parts for the turbo swap etc.

4.) after you have all your parts in hand. contact a tuner and they should be able to email you an AP base map for your mods. install all your parts, and limp it to the dyno.

...this is optimal because:
1.) its a mod you will need down the line.
2.) not wanting to double purchase mods, etc.

i think it makes more sense to do this mod path. i would just do AP stg 1 to load a new map onto the car for now and go for the big swap and everything later on...

this would avoid d!cking around with the downpipes (when you will order one with your turbo kit).

does this make sense??

Yeah it does and i actually hadn't considered this approach.... i have the downpipe sitting in my basement as well as the G200 i recently purchased.... i didnt lose any $$ on the downpipe because it came off my old WRX, and if i wanted i could bolt the G200 to the stock downpipe to get a little more noise.... Cobb AP stg 1 would smooth things out a bit as well im sure, and its probably the cheapest alternative at hand since the sooner i do the turbo, the better

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting idea i will Definitely consider now Thanks applz

What he said.... Good advice.. But I am confused Ben, are the STG 2 mods you have now are they mods that you have purchased for the Turbo upgrade what I mean are they supporting mods?

Carlos, IIRC Ben is runnin stock right now. i remember reading that he had the DP laying around from his old wrx.

stg 1 would smooth out the 07 shtty tune and make the car more 'driveable.' yeah, throw on the cat back for noise

Competely OT: Boulder, CO... i used to date a chick and she had family that lived in colorado springs. there is some good white water rafting out there!! beautiful area..

the only mod that would support the turbo would be the G200 cat back.... the turbo kit comes w/ a downpipe... and thats all i have for mods right now.... up to this point, the only thing i have spent money on for the 'STI' specifically is the G200.... the downpipe came off my old wrx that i thought i would just switch over the STi

yeah its cool around here.... cept the weather... the forecast is usually 80% wrong.... called for snow last night and tonight.... got nothing last night, so far its 55* out and nothing for tonight.... not saying that it might not come... Colorado weather changes so quick its annoying.... especially since i already put the bridgestones back on

And yeah, im stock up to this point..... home from class now and i was thinking again... uh oh
i kinda wanna get stg 2 again... blah blah blah.... ugh i dunno what im doing lol....

Either way.... this saturday i'll be changing my oil to fully synthetic, which will be right around 10k miles. Also planning to put the G200 onto the stock downpipe, and finishing the install of my TiC super shift set... gotta do front and rear stay bushings, and the linkage bushings
