I was too lazy to post my planned Stg 2 mods on the 1st post before, but i'll make a little section there now so i can at least keep track for myself of what i need to get for stg 2....
Mod your gonna have to help me out later, my mind is kinda.... forgetfull, and i'd like to make a similar list for the turbo upgrade.....

What do you think of using standalone compared to the ECUtek?.... tuner said that it was possible, but he wouldnt like it... hes uncomfortable w/ the stock ECU pulling timing whenever it damn well pleases.... with a standalone he can fully trust whats going to happen because it does as its told... (not his exact words but damn close)
I would really consider the DW 740cc they can be had for $489.00 and you can sell your stockers on ebay for like $200 to offset the cost like I did. With the 740cc you should be fine with IDC's.

I am just not sold on the e85, yeah he has probably tuned with it and he may be super confident but ultimetly its not his car you know what I mean, if you want to give it a try go for it but I wouldnt just my .02

For me I am not a big fan of getting rid of the stock ECU all together. I know he prefers standalone but that is up to you and I would do alot of research on that part.

I'll check out those injectors.
I was just a little curious about it, but he does run it on his own personal WRX and does mid 12 second passes a mile above sea level....
As for the ECU.... i understand what your saying, but there are alot of people choosing a standalone over a piggyback or such for the sole purpose of controlling all the points of the tune...
When i upgrade i never sell any of the old stuff unless i KNOW i wont need it.... kinda my own insurance policy in case i have to return to stock

Was just lookin around at some sites and couldn't find the 740cc injectors for the top-fed 07 STi... they have the 750cc... if anyone can post a specific link it would be appreciated

A few questions in wanted to devote a post to, and a bump for some new viewers hopefully!

1) Check post 1 for my list of stg 2 mods to come, im still taking suggestions as well as info on what injectors that will work with stg 2 ProTune as well as a rotated 30R.
2) I dont mind running catless, but i remember my tuner briefly saying he likes to tune catted downpipes... can anyone think of a reason other than it being more "green" than shooting ProTuned fireballs?
3)Boost Creep, do i need to worry about it? i'll do a little searching around after this post, but is it ultimately something i should be concerned about?

As soon as i get some more info on injectors, i'll try to gather my funds and call the tuner back to set a date for my tune!

Sorry I keep thinking 06, yeah the 750cc from DW and they are $399 which is nice. I dont know if 07 pull more fuel and need 850cc so I would look into that, I would talk to Mike at DW he is a real cool guy very helpful. They also give you $200 for your stock injectors which is nice..

With the standalone I just dont think you need it, I mean I understand the point of a Hydra when your really looking to push some major power. But with the standalone you lose a few things I think like check engine lights, cruise control not that I ever use mine.. I mean why dont you want to run a COBB AP? For example lets say Harmon Motive they put out some nice race STI's and they run them all off COBB AP's..

Well with the rotated 30R I would look into the 850cc I mean you will have the headroom with those. You can run Catted or Non its really up to you, my tuner runs a catted 07 pushing 470WHP..

As for boost creep your running a EWG right, you should have no problems. If you arent running a EWG I would really consider it.. Really.

Im going to be using the accessport for my stg 2 tune, but the tuner was recommending a standalone for the final turbo upgrade.... he was talking about timing issues and how the 07 liked to pull timing at really inconsistent times blah blah blah.... but he heard cobb has a "fix" for it so hes anxious to see what Cobb claims as the fix.... When i get my stg 2 tune outta the way i'll talk more in depth about the turbo.... right now im just focusing all my energy into work and doing the proper research for my stg 2 tune so i can set a date asap.... the more info i read here, as well as the more info people post... the sooner i can set my date I'll consider the 850cc injectors as well, but i'll prolly hang onto the stockers ... like i said in one of the previous posts, its like my own personal insurance policy incase i need to swap back to stock..... we shall see though, if the time comes and $$ is short i may send em to Deatsch Werks

Yeah i know alot of people say run catted if your getting tuned, and i have no problem running catted.... never had a problem w/ it on my WRX except for the occassional cloud of unburnt fuel (you really had to see it sometimes, Cobb stg 2 OTS map).... If there isn't really a difference between catted or catless w/ a protune then i wont worry, but im starting to get a little concerned about boost creep when i go stg 2.... i know it wont be a problem w/ the 30R because it will run an EWG, but with stg 2, do i need to worry?

couldnt have said it better. the stock ECU knows things that can never be taught by a tuner... its able to correct itself within parameters instead of just perform one function (regardless of the actions the engine).

2) I dont mind running catless, but i remember my tuner briefly saying he likes to tune catted downpipes... can anyone think of a reason other than it being more "green" than shooting ProTuned fireballs? when running upgraded fuel it is more likely to burn up a cat faster, resulting in problems down the road... i like to eliminate possible problems (also the catted pipe is usually more expensive).

must have some sort of boost controller (not manual). and i would definately run EWG if upgrading turbo..

i sold my oem top feed injectors on NASIOC for 210 anyway.

BISHOP:
i would suggest with the 30r.

DeatschWerks 750cc-- 400-200= 200 all said and done for injectors!!
Deatschwerks
Grimmspeed EWG kit with stock header.
prodrive boost control selenoid.

The crawford performance kit apparently doesn't recommend using an upgraded boost solenoid because the OEM unit on the 07 is a more solid unit than previous years IIRC.... I'll consider the trade in for the injectors now since i wanna get em for stg 2, but dunno where i can find another 400 on short notice lol.... and the crawford kit comes w/ an EWG setup, uppipe and downpipe
