IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 | Thx applz..... i just finished reading Modaddict's journal and it took me a damn hour! I miss the sound of my wrx, and want it SO bad on my STi.... but after seeing his progression.... i just dont know now if i want to get tuned for stg 2 or go for CP30R sooner..... I'll most likely be doing stg 2 + saving cash then doing the turbo the "right" way in my eyes... im just really anxious when it comes to my car.... thanks for the info, im tired.... p34c3 |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 | yup, I have the "magic" 720cc injectors hitting 80% duty cycle. I'm honestly not sure if they will be enough for you. The E85 requires more fuel. Im 100% ok with running 100% (or beyond) duty cycle...but that's just me. Most arent. I don't have the experience with e85 to tell you....even though, i have a pump near me and would 'LOVE' to try it. The only problem I see with e85 is I hear it's inconsistant as far as equivalent octane rating. if you go to the pump and get tuned for it and it's 110 octane....I hear next week you can get a 105 rating. That scares me. is it 100% truth? I don't know. Crawford will jump to the 900cc injectors on their "big builds". still with a 35r though. i suggest if you don't go with I-speed, then talk to your tuner and see what he recommends. Im sorry, I don't remember the price for them. I know they were more than I though injectors would be...but, in the long run, whatever. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 | Sounds good, i talked to my tuner yesterday and hes running a perrin 30r on this WRX (not sure if its an STi swap).... hes using, and highly suggested using a standalone ECU.... i might take his advice... as for injectors, if i dont go w/ the CP 720cc ones im not really sure what i should get so i can use them for stg 2 as well as the turbo upgrade |

eeek. your'e comfortable running 100% IDC?? that makes one of us! If you get any kind of problem at all with 100% IDC its usually a fatal problem ((for the engine)). As far as the injectors, i was in need of an upgrade. I heard great things abour Deatsch werks 740cc, and Power enterprise 850cc. My determining factor was after learning more about how they work, the lower the #cc the better vaporization of the fuel. In other words, 740cc is the largest i would go because it still let the fuel atomize before entering the cylinder instead of just squirting it in. each injector is designed to operate at a certain psi for a "volume of flow" & a flow pattern. 720cc or 740cc whatever, i only recommend the 740cc because i got them for $489 shipped. They work great, and give me room to upgrade to 20g-or biggest 30r later. just research and decide what YOU like before you upgrade. I was also reading that the E85 is inconsistent. that is a main reason why i havent played with it (yet). BTW: since you're a DIY guy like myself. here are the links i used, i suggest following them (unless you already know what you're doing). LOL damn beers... I meant that its good he wasnt blowing smoke at you claiming numbers and his #1 concern was safety and reliablity.. Thats what I meant... I have to start proof reading more.. For injectors I would research aswell, I went with the DW 740cc also knowing that in the future I would be going to a 20G or Green at max, I am not to famliar with the Magic 720cc but I would see if they are gonna be enough for your future plans. I just dont agree with running IDC @100%, you really dont want injectors to be Static which basically means running them fully open all the time or 100% IDC. If you read most injectors recommended rates they state that you should not exceed 80-85% IDC I dont think that running them abpve this is gonna make a diff, but i wouldnt run them @ 100% just my .02..

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 | ^agreed, all injectors have their "efficient" spot. which is likely NOT 100% IDC. if you try to squeeze too much out of the injector the flow pattern goes to ish. |

The only true way to tell is with an occiliscope. People have seen added fuel until 125%. Read: im at 80% on my 720cc injectors. at 26psi of boost on water/meth 81% on 20psi 91 octane.

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 | Mod PMed me what he thought he remembered paying for those CP injectors, and i think that theyre a tad spendy, even if i were to wait for the turbo upgrade..... For a rotated 30r from crawford performance, does anyone have any recommendations on injectors? i probably don't want to run 100% IDC... just so i can have some overhead if i need the room later on.... i understand what everyone's been saying about the E85, but if the tuner is THIS confident about tuning w/ it, and has already tuned more than a few cars on it, its worth giving it a shot IMO..... i did forget to ask about how it would change how often i need to refuel, or how it would affect the gas mileage I was too lazy to post my planned Stg 2 mods on the 1st post before, but i'll make a little section there now so i can at least keep track for myself of what i need to get for stg 2.... Mod your gonna have to help me out later, my mind is kinda.... forgetfull, and i'd like to make a similar list for the turbo upgrade..... What do you think of using standalone compared to the ECUtek?.... tuner said that it was possible, but he wouldnt like it... hes uncomfortable w/ the stock ECU pulling timing whenever it damn well pleases.... with a standalone he can fully trust whats going to happen because it does as its told... (not his exact words but damn close) |
