IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | Another update -poll added -I am nearly done with an OS X logging program. -This weekend I'm going to 2 autocrosses and tonight or tomorrow night the accelerometer is getting installed in the car. Right now I have the clock bezel out and the LCD is nearly a perfect fit for the hole that the clock fits in. I will post pictures, etc. as they are made. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 | STi Robot - awesome idea/thread. You will easily be able to max out the 1.2g meter at you auto-x this weekend. I have an AVIC-Z1 that displays lateral g's and I about pegged it at my last auto-x. I can't remember the max, but I think it is 1.5g. Back from the old Scoobymods thread - I really like the low oil temp warning. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | Yeah, that guy made a nice setup. I'm sure I'll max it out this weekend. Hopefully I'll get a video. The next one I make will probably use a 2g accelerometer but will have the meter pegged at 1.5. The extra .5 will be wiggle room for zeroing the accelerometer on startup. Sorry for the delay in install pictures. Everything is hooked up in the car but the display. I used a flammable glue and i had to clean it out and get something non-flammable (latex based...it'll say something like "cleans up with water, low odor). Fire+driving = no fun. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | Installed and working! The last hurdle was getting it to send serial signals properly. After installation the board would boot and work only if plugged into a usb computer. Turns out without the usb the rx signal from the board was a bit dirty. Cleaned it up with 10k resistor. Now it boots without being plugged in. I also snaked a usb cable to the passenger side for logging Tomorrow, autox, video |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | Somewhat of a setback...but this is product testing so... The accelerometer lasted 2 days at the autox and then crapped out. It worked great on course and it was super hot both days. At the end of day two the board stopped transmitting to the screen. Today I reflashed chip and everything works again. I'm going to try to figure out what caused this and what can prevent if from happening in the future. I'm guessing I did a little sloppy install work and something got shorted out just right. Oh well. |
