Hell, sometimes it even says how to program your keys (after the 3rd one, cause usually the dealer has to program the first 2). If it's not in the manual, you can call subaru and ask them how to do these "tricks". You want your doors to lock at 5mph? call them or look in the manual........this is another "trick" that MAY be and option. Our Sti's aren't luxury liners, so I don't know how many are an option.

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | Your first quote uses a laughing face to indicate that the people asking these questions etc. could have found all of this in the owners manual, yet in your next post you state you haven't read the manual! I think you would be surprised at how many people on this site actually have read their owners manual. Furthermore I would be willing to bet that about 0-1% of dealerships would have any idea about this trick or any other for that matter. Most of us who have dealt with dealerships find that it's the owners that have to explain issues/fixes to the dealers; not the other way around. |

I'd bet you 99% of the dealers know of this "trick" and many more. This seatbelt chime is a common issue.

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 | I just did this on my '09 STI. Thank you, thank you, thank you... Everyday, I stop at the mail box about 1000' from my home. It's a 40 kph zone on a quiet street. I never put my seatbelt back on, but since I bought this car, my kids are giving me a hard time. I guess they never noticed before. Seems to have stopped the door ding with the key in the ignition as well. And, it doesn't ding at all with the seatbelts undone. Someone mentioned theirs dinged 4 times? Mine makes no noise at all now. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 | I just found this thread. I reset my ecu since I had to clear a CEL and the seatbelt chime started chiming after sitting in my car when I warm it up in the morning. It's enough to drive a man insane(or woman for all the ladies with STI's). I've never done this trick to disable the chime but it's the first thing i'm going to do after i get out of work today. |
