Come on.....It isn't about wearing your seatbelt when you're driving....

how many of you drop your girl off at the door of a store, then park or sit there waiting, then take your seatbelt off to sit and listen to music ot text a friend or whatever, and got pissed of @ the damn ding? Or if you start your car, let it warm up, then go to get in 5 minutes later to it dingin like crazy?

It's not just about wearing your seatbelt..It dings ANYTIME the car is ON and the seatbelt is off...

This is the first thing I will do when I get in the car today. I hate sitting, waiting on people for appointments with that constant chime going off.

At least in the 06 the seat belt chime is disabled if you insert the belt at least one time after turning on the car. So if you drive some where shut the car off but leave it in ACC, no chime when you disconnect the belt. Obviously, completely disabling the chime is better. But I thought I'd share this tibit of info.

I have done this and it has saved me a ton of headaches while simply moving my car out of the garage and such. I always put my belt on by the time I get out of my track.

However, this morning (its street sweeping day) I was playing musical cars by moving our 2 other cars from the street in front of our apartment to the alley in the back. So i was moving my gf's land cruiser, which has no door chime(it's a 97), from the alley back to the front and this damn cop who I see all the time in my neighborhood starts following me. I had woken up like 10 minutes before this to avoid a street sweeping ticket, diddn't think to grab my wallet, and did not buckle up. I was moving the car maybe 300 feet. So he flashes the lights when I parked in front of my apartment, i start to get out, he slams the door closed and told me to stay in the car.

Let me just give you a little info about my neighborhood. I probably drive the nicest car on the block (my STI). I have seen people shooting heroin and smoking pot in the alley by the dumpsters. There are tons of Gangsters all over the place which I'm sure carry guns regularly.

So basically I got totally harassed for not putting my seatbelt on while moving my car 300 feet in front of my own apartment. Before I desabled that anoying chime on my STI I put my belt on before I left the garage...

This is exactly why I HATE COPS! But my point is, be careful because you may learn bad habits by disabling that chime.
