Plus, my way doesn't require me to muck about in the vicinity of airbag sensors. Either way will kill the chime, though.

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | Listen to boondocksaint. I do this mod every time my battery gets disconnected. I do sales, and I am always sitting in my car doing work without my seatbelt on. The chime delete is the best thing i have done to my car so far. If only it worked in my girlfriends Jetta GLi. VW's are the worst when it comes to chimes and bells. Not to change the topic, but I just reactivated my DRL's; I couldn't stand not being able to see my clock or any of the HVAC lights on the dials (They all dim when you use the city lights or headlights). |

| Spiteful Old Codger Feedback Score: 1 reviews | Am I correct that up to this point, we've been talking about the chime that sounds after the door is closed? What about with the door open? There may be two levels of stuff going on. IIRC, there was a change in the cicuit either post-'04 or post-'05. I think the difference was that in the later models, the chime would continue to sound after the door was closed. In the eirlier models it would only sound with the door open. Okay, so I'm guessing the 20 latch engagements only work for the latter scenario - where the chime sounds after the door is closed. Is there an ECU defeat for the former scenario? |

Do you know if there's an ECU-based defeat for the '04 chime?
