On this forum you have to scroll down to get the seatbelt chime to go off.
My way is easier. Plus, my way doesn't require me to muck about in the vicinity of airbag sensors. Either way will kill the chime, though.

Listen to boondocksaint. I do this mod every time my battery gets disconnected. I do sales, and I am always sitting in my car doing work without my seatbelt on. The chime delete is the best thing i have done to my car so far. If only it worked in my girlfriends Jetta GLi. VW's are the worst when it comes to chimes and bells. Not to change the topic, but I just reactivated my DRL's; I couldn't stand not being able to see my clock or any of the HVAC lights on the dials (They all dim when you use the city lights or headlights).

Am I correct that up to this point, we've been talking about the chime that sounds after the door is closed? What about with the door open?

There may be two levels of stuff going on. IIRC, there was a change in the cicuit either post-'04 or post-'05. I think the difference was that in the later models, the chime would continue to sound after the door was closed. In the eirlier models it would only sound with the door open.

Okay, so I'm guessing the 20 latch engagements only work for the latter scenario - where the chime sounds after the door is closed. Is there an ECU defeat for the former scenario?

You are correct. This should only work for 2006/2007 models. I am not sure about the '05's. I would assume they are similar to the '04's where it shuts off after one cycle.

Thanks.

Do you know if there's an ECU-based defeat for the '04 chime?

I have never looked into it or come across anything on it in the forums. It never irritated me enough to be concerned about it. But my '07 & '06; Eye-Chee-wah-wah!! It is relentless if you are just sitting in the car for a while without your seatbelt on.

I am doing this in the morning. I get annoyed as hell when I don't even go beyond Acc and it starts telling me to put on my belt

On this forum you have to scroll down to get the seatbelt chime to go off. Also up top is the DRL (daytime running lights) delete. This is a great idea and money saver, because those HIDs will not last forever and are very expensive. Also, you actually get to use the headlight switch. Lol.

I just did it this way. FTW doesnt even make a noise when you get in the car.
