IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 | I have seen a lot of security upgrades on Genuine Subaru Parts store relating to the newer cars and the available upgrades to their security system. I know the 04 does not have a shock sensor by default. Is there anyway that you can upgrade the stock security system to add the shock sensor or am I going to have to goto an aftermarket solution? |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | I'm also interested in this, someone told me to get an aftermarket but I wanted to see if the Subaru shock sensor upgrade was worth it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2009 | I came across this a few weeks ago: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...roducts_id=469 The description doesn't really explain much though. Not sure if it includes a shock sensor or what. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | Yeah I seen that before but when I went to a local dealer to inquire about this, he told me I was better getting an aftermarket alarm only because the sensor would detect vibration. But I would wait for someone else who has it or has had it to say something about it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2009 | i have the shock sensor and tho its not crazy sensitive when set to high i was able to set it off once while taking off a wheel to get a nail hole repaired. so out of 10 id give it a 6 why? well in my opinion it does a good job of chirping when the car is thumped but to get the alarm to go off at full boar it takes a decent blow which by then in my opinion the damage is done... id rather go with a higher senitivity that will warn people with a chirp when it senses their shadow and goes off when they touch it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | imo, you are better off getting an aftermarket unit. for $150 you do not get two way paging to let you know when your car's siren or shock sensor is going off. you can find alarm systems on the market these days that will give you shock sensor, remote starter, turbo timer, and a bunch of other functions the "factory" unit might be be capable of. and thats a 2 way paging system. proximity sensors can be added at the shop which will chirp when someone gets too close. |
