Default Re: AVIC D3 & iPod Video

thanks again man...i just called a few places and the pro installation is going to to be at least $150-$200...not to mention that i'd have to wait longer for an appointment...so im thinking in just doing it myself then....everyone's saying it's pretty easy but just time consuming...going to pick up the wiring harness and couple zip ties..anyone paint their dash too while having it out anyway?? is it necessary to do a pre sand and post clear coat??

I believe it depends upon which Gen ipod you have. If you have a G5 it will work fine, but G6 and Nano G3 there are problems. The G6 may work with the start the video and plug in, but my nano is a no go and the Pioneer tech told me that it was not going to work with the IP200 cable.

If you follow this thread you will see why. There is a sensing signal that tells the iPod what type of video to send to the receiving device and without that it just sits there asking for a hookup, at least that is what mine does.
