Damn that sucks..I just installed a Avic D3 a week or 2 ago...I dont watch vids really on my ipod in my car so it doesnt really effect me, but just knowing it wont work kinda sucks

Anyways, other than the ipod vids not playing, the D3 is probably the sickest head unit ive ever used

There is no "special" kit available for specific car models for the D3 that I am aware of. It fits right in, but I would order a harness kit for less than $10 that lets you connect right to the factory radio wiring harness. You can get these at most auto stereo installation shops or on ebay cheap. The IP200 is the Pioneer cable for iPod control.

I recently installed the Alpine IDA-X001 and I thought I'd like it now I need an upgrade to something that displays video. I thought as long as the head unit had AV inputs you could send the ipod's video to the head unit?

Here you go:

AVIC-D3 install in 2005 STI - Car Audio, Video & Security - NASIOC

I used this to install my AVIC d3 in my '06, however, there is one error. The speed pulse wire is not the green and yellow in the center harness of the gauge cluster, it is the green and black wire on the right side bundle in the gauge cluster. I have not changed mine yet but if you go with the green and yellow wire it does nothing!

The gauge cluster is your cluster in front of you, speedo, tach, etc. You will need to remove the two screws in the top of the cluster, look under the hood and you will see the two screws, pull off the bezel and then you will need to remove the screws holding the cluster in the dash. It comes out pretty easily. You then can reach behind and remove the 3 connectors that wires the cluster.

As for the wiring harness. They are available on line for 4 to 10 bucks. Not sure where you are but you could check at any place that specializes in car audio installations.
If you go on ebay there are a bunch of these:

FYI: I have a D3 and my Ipod works fine with the video output. It's an 80g about 6 months old. I'm sure you've tried this, but make sure you select TV out and have the car parked w/ the brake up if you haven't bypassed that.
