| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 1 reviews | ok so i just went to the DMV this morning to get my car registered and on my title where the mileage is written there a little mark so they said its been "altered" which is bull****. so now they are making me go get my mileage "notarized." i asked where i can get this done and the lady told me some gas stations do it. but i left forgetting to ask her if theres a specific form for notarizing the mileage. so do any of you guys know if i need a specidic form? and can i only get the mileage notarized at a gas station??? |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | That sucks... I'd say take it some where else to try and get it registered. Unless its not like wisconsin. We've got like 3 or 4 areas around me where you can get it registered |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | Take it to a dealership. They usually have a notary public. I suspect it's nothing more than having a written statement that you swear the mileage is accurate, sign it and then have it notarized. |

never **** with the title except when putting a lien on it, selling or transferring. you're notarizing a statement that the mileage is accurate, so be sure to include the description from the title (vin, make, model, year, color, etc.). have it with you when you go to the dealership. they may tell you that what's needed is something different but it's always best to have something like this ready in advance. doing the work for them means they may notarize it for just a standard notary fee (instead of charging some kind of document fee to do your work for you). i'd usually say go to your bank (since they usually notarize for their customers without charging them) but i suspect a dealership will be more familiar with this demand from dps than a bank would be. you could always call both and see if the bank's familiar with it before calling the dealership. whichever should be able to tell you what paperwork to have with you when you come. --whew-- iow: don't seek legal advice from strangers on the internet. go to the professionals that will stand behind their explanation. | |
