Default Gas cap when re-fuelling: cap coes where ?

Where do you put your gas cap when re-fuelling ?

1. Let it dangle on its retention strap, against the fender
2. Balance it on the fuel door
3. Wedge it between the fuel door and fender
4. Use a clamp to hold it to the fule door

My VW cap looked like it had been mitre-sawed about 6mm deep,
2mm wide, and the groove could be used for slotting and securing
the cap atop the fuel door.

My MINI had a loop on the inside of the fuel door which received the threads
of the cap and held it in place.

The STi has none of the above as I can tell.

I hang mine over the pump handle so it is not touching the paint at all.

Since in NY they disabled the whole automatic fueling thing unless your going to full and not self (get what im talking about? the little clip on the handle of the nozzle?) I put the gas cap in the handle and let it pump my gas with no effort from me ... Otherwise i try to not get it on the paint if im pumping my gas haha
