Default First time out and 12s!

I went to the track last night, and I had no idea what to expect. I bought this car last week, and I have never driven a standard, AWD car before this.

My mods are:
- Cobb Accessport V2 (I believe the program was flashed in, but it's not connected, so no launch control)
- EOD downpipe
- Perrin dual tube exhaust

I had two tiers of goals for the track. First off, I didn't want to run a high 13. Second, I wanted to run a faster time than I had with my last car (12.81 @ 108 in a SRT4 on slicks).

So first run out, I drop the clutch from 5500, and it launches pretty good. The slip looks like:
rt: .505
60 ft: 1.780
1/8th: 8.291 (mph not working)
1/4: 13.010 @ 105.821

I am super pumped with this, as I bought the car used, and was a little worried if things were going to work 100%. Needless to say, it did. So I hotlapped it. On my next run, the slip was:
rt: .882 (terrible, but I wasn't racing against anybody)
60 ft: 1.773
1/8th: 8.195
1/4: 12.817 @ 107.967mph

So this pretty much equals my SRT4, which I was super happy about (and still am). Unfortunately that was my best time of the night.

This was on 36psi front and 31psi back. I tried playing around with tire pressure, but just couldn't get a better 60 foot than that. I tried as low as 5000rpm (bog) and up to 6500 rpm, which spun (but netted the highest trap at 108.8). However, at high 1.7s, they aren't too bad.

So I ran 10 times, with 9 of them being between 12.81 and 13.17. The one outside just didn't feel right off the line, so I shut it down. Overall, I'm happy that I came out and cut 1.7 and low 1.8 60 foots all day,but I just wish I could've shaved an extra tenth second to say it was faster than my old car (in a straight line...we all know it kills it in every other category).

My only issue of the day, was it doesn't go super smooth into second gear. It feels like it has three gates, and it doesn't want to go in on quick shifts. Now it's not grinding, but it isn't butter smooth. Anybody know anything about this, as I have the factory Short throw? Or do I need to suck it up, as this is the STI tranny?

To fix you shifting I would put Neo fluid in your tranny I could barely shift my car into third then I switched my tranny fluid to Neo and its smooth. But onto the run great job first time out just work on that launch im sure youll get it.

tripple cone syncros in 1st and 2nd gear. double in 2nd and 3rd IIRC.

that is what you are feeling. try replacing the trans fluid and rear diff, if the car is used it's probably never been touched. it'll smooth it out quite a bit.
