yea you should be running mid 12's with that set up. I ran a 12.9 with just exaust, intake and ecu on my 05

Can you explain this please? Can't you only shift into the gears one way?

I dont know if I can explain it better, but here goes......

What I used to do when I first got my car is try and direct the shifter up then over then up into the gear.(three motions)

At the drag strip one day I got real agressive and just banged the shifter directly into gear straight up and over in one motion(no direction changes) and it went into gear awesome.

By slow shifting I mean I wasn't powershifting, but still shifting decently fast. I shifted at 7000 in first and 6500 in 2 3 and 4. I was thinking that I would stay in my powerband better, but if I had brought it out to redline it would have probably ended up better. I think I have another 5/10ths I could get out of it by shifting at redline and icing the IC and intake pipes.

JASV- I saw your videos on youtube and was stoked I was going to run a 12.1 at 110+... I guess not. I still feel like I could eventually get there, or atleast to a 12.5 at 109/110.
Yes try shifting at 6800 from 1st to 2nd and then shift as close to 7000rpm as possible without hitting the limiter in the rest of the gears.

I dont know why this works the best cause on paper it shouldn't with the stock turbo power band.

My best time with pretty much your set up was a 12.31 @ 111mph.

The 12.1 was done with a modified intake wheel on the stock turbo so that really doesnt count

Just keep practicing it'll come. Try getting 2 runs in back to back(within 5 minutes of each other) My fastest times always came this way cause your manifold and turbo and exhaust are hot and flowing thier best and the trip back in the return lane cools the intercooler pretty good as long as your not sitting idling for too long.

Thanks for clearing up the shifting. I always shift like that (diagonal) but I know the "z" pattern that you are referring to now.

When you run on the track, you don't shift over 7000 rpm? I know some people bump up the rev-limiter and shift higher.

^^I don't think that would be beneficial on the stock turbo.

My limiter is set at 7300 but I shift at 7000 anyway. i set it higher cause I hit it slightly a couple of times and didnt want to have that happen anymore

I know there is a member here who is just stage 2, and ran 12's reving at 7500 rpm... he said he ran slower when shifting at under 7000 rpm. I know it goes against everything the dyno says about our powerband, but that's what I read here.

Yeah, once a flash to stage 2 on Sunday, I'm bumping it up to 7600 or so... just to be extra, extra sure I don't hit it. lol

I ran 2 seasons at the track on my stock motor, probably close to 200 runs and when my motor was disasembled last fall my stock valve springs came off by hand. I had signs of fire in the intake track as well from ignition coming back past the intake valves.

I wouldnt run 7500 rpm regularly without upgrading the valve springs first.

Are you serious??!? Wow.

Yeah, maybe I'll make that 7350 or so. lol
I also think I'll follow your shifting format, by not shifting past 7000 rpm or so.

Not as fast as I would have liked... I had just ran before that and was probably heatsoaked. The run before was a 13.4 at 92... lol. My sweaty ass hands slipped off so 5th stayed in neutral. I babied the 5th shift on the 13.0 run so it would go in.. so I probably left some time on the table there. I probably left a tenth or two on the shifts and a tenth or two on the launch.

Pissed I only got 2 runs in though. Some kid in a civic blew up on the launch, and made it the rest of the way down the track dripping fluids.

Mods on the car: Cobb TBE (3" section removed) Vibrant headers, PT/Tial 44mm EWG, Aquamist HFS5 meth running 70/30 meth/water, Walbro 255, TXS mbc. After the tune I dynoed at 320/390... their dyno runs 215 WHP stock.
Was this at Englishtown on Wednesday? If so, I remember your run...

Yeah. A lot of people were out. I would have liked to get 3 runs in but it is what it is. I was thinking of going back today but I'm just too lazy.

Did you race? I don't remember any FXT's there. I would have come up if I saw one... FXT's are bad ass.
