Default Fastest 0-100k times on stock

Hey all.

I have a stock setup on an 04 sti, the only modification are 18" rims (same weight as stock - i checked) i put on it.
The best i could get out of my car is 4.8 seconds, but i averaged 4.9. Whats everyone else getting (or got) on stock setup???

i hadn't the opportunity to measure acceleration on stock - it had the aftermrket rims when i bought it (which was in october of 2007). I also replaced the stock BOV to one that vents to the outside, but that shouldn't have any performance impact.
I think stock should be pulling something around 4.6-4.7 seconds, 4.5 TOPS. On a seperate note, one guy i talked to claimed to have gotten 4.3 seconds on stock 05 sti, but i have trouble believing that.

Exactly, get a BYPASS VALVE on there, dump the BLOW OFF VALVE.

really? why so? how does a BOV have any performance impact?

just to clarify, bypass valve redirects air from the i/c back to the intake at the turbo, correct? So then the stock valve is a bypass valve?

i've read through a couple of threads. So aftermarket BOV is bad because:

1. makes car run rich between shifts cause it messes w/ the sensors
2. useless piece of **** (this was the most common reason)
3. doesn't vent or doesn't vent enough
4. improperly balanced can both leak and cause comp. surge

I've also read that stock BOV is good up to 22-23 PSI: this true?

Anyways, I still feel like a noob in this BOV stuff.
Before i installed the BOV, i actually felt how tight the stock valve is and how tight the aftermarket one is - the stock is tighter, so this would eliminate the possiblity of compressor surge (?) by the BOV.
Also, i have a boost guage and i checked the boost w/ both valves - no difference; so the aftermarket doesn't leak.

However, there have been some strange occasions when i was shifting at 7000 rpm.
I don't know if this is common, but in my car, just when (during a qick launch) you floor the clutch to shift, the revs go up.
So this time, since the revs were very close to the redline, during my shift the revs bounced up, hitting the limiter for a second, at which time i didn't hear the BOV go off (this was not an isolated incident). What could this be?

Anyways, I trust in STi technology and development more than a company whose name i don't even know... - the stock is going back in.

This sounds like your not lifting off the throttle fast enough and whats happening is when you apply the clutch (dis-engaging the engine and trans)the RPM's are going up cuz your still on the throttle, even if its just a little for a short amount of time. Im sure thats what your experiencing.

Good choice re-installing the stock BPV.

The AP that people are talking about is a Piggy-Back ECU Upgrade that Re-Flashes the stock Maps and tunes the car a little more aggressively in regards to Boost, Air/Fuel Ratios and other stuff that I dont know about. but anyway. The new version of the AccessPort has a feature that estimates 0-60 times and 1/4 mile ET's. I dont think it works like the G-Tech. cuz theres not gyrometer in it. Its just based on distance over time. so scratch using that to accurately calculate your times. especially since the STI's speedo is off by quite a bit. 3-5 mph.

You should definitely read up a bit before you start modding your car. This site is filled with great info about the STI. Just search and read the stickies.

Good luck

yeah. whats good about the GTECH is that its measurements are completely independant from the car setup. for example, if you have different size wheels than stock, your speed reading will be off even more on the stock speedo. the g-tech, however, uses its own built-in accelerometer.
