IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Go 04!!! Not to down play your numbers but that must be a really high reading dyno. I'm not much for numbers my self as long as it's fast. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 Trader Rating: (1) | I'm new to this but from what i remember he said open ecu... the tuner said that my next upgrade should be a fmic and then an upgraded turbo... I'm looking for 450whp i think... do i need to do internals at that point or is stock ok? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | You need to find out what kind of dyno it was you were tuned on, what stock STI's put down on that dyno so we can form a really good comparison of how that dyno stacks up compared to other dynos, and if any correction factors were used during your runs. If you could post the dyno sheet that would be handy as well. So he basically tuned your car with Enginuity which is free tuning software. Did he give you the map? Did you just get one tune? You should probably do some research about how to use that software so if and when you decide to get more tunes done you know how to flash your ecu and whatnot. You will need a laptop, the enginuity software (Enginuity - Open Source ECU Tuning, Reflashing and Logging | Enginuity / Enginuity), and a tactrix cable (tactrix) to get started. Well let me be the first to tell you that you are not going to hit a REAL 450whp on pump, and even with meth injection or race gas its going to be hard unless you run a turbo the size of a GT35R / SZ65 / FP Red (anything about 65lbs of flow a min.) or are on a really high reading dyno. You are significantly risking the stock internals at power levels above 400whp. Even 400whp is pushing it to an extent, but most on here are of the opinion that 400whp is about the cut off to have some long term reliability. There are a lot more upgrades involved than just a FMIC and the turbo. For the power levels you are looking to achieve you are going to need: an open wallet with about $5-6000 (or more) just for parts not including labor if the parts are bought brand new.FMIC Fuel injectors Fuel pump rotated turbo kit with GT35R turbo TGV deletes (optional but do show positive HP gains) boost controller / boost solenoid Aftermarket clutch Tuning Gauges to monitor you new setup Race Gas / Meth injection Thats a pretty close list if you go with a rotated turbo setup. Then of course at those power levels you will be eventually building the motor so you will need to get ready financially for that. In the mean time though you have plenty of time to read up on your options and start researching. Good Luck! Last edited by ninjaboy76; 10-05-2007 at 01:39 AM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | ^^ He has a point. Find out what a stock STI makes on that dyno. Dyno numbers are funny like that. To give you an example the last dyno I was on baselined a stock STI at 215whp. Also bad tuners like cheat you out of a good tune by just resetting the ECU before a baseline so you'll loose learned timing. By doing this the car will actually loose power during the baseline. Then they come to you with some really high numbers after a half hour of fake tuning and you'll believe it. Don't be afraid to ask your tuner a lot of questions. If they are honest they wont hide things from you. It also helps to sit right next to them while they are tuning. I'm sure you heard it enough but get yourself a protune or better and you'll really be happy with the car. If you do a search you'll see that there are plenty of people here making more power (and faster) on stock turbos vs a larger turbo and it's all because of good tuning. All the same good luck and enjoy your new toy. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 Trader Rating: (1) | Thanks for the info... I'm doing research on what setup i want to go with- i already have 750cc injectors and boast controler so i'm thinkin fmic(what"s the best value?.. I saw xs for around 950) then upgrade turbo but i don't want something too laggy you know(maybe fp green)... any input is cool with me. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | What is a "boast controler" I need to get me one of those....J/K What kind of boost controller do you have? A Turbo XS FMIC isn't bad for the price. The things I didn't like about the one I had was that the core fins are a bit flimsy and the piping is too long. For a little more cash you can get a quality APS SR525. It's core will last a lot longer. Also what kind of injectors do you have? As for a turbo a FP green isn't a bad choice. The 8cm housing is really popular and I've seen some really good results using an EWG with that turbo. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | How would you rate the service at Turbo Trix? I've heard mixed reviews of them and I'm thinking maybe I'll stop by there on day since its not too far from where I live. I'm stock right now, but Stage II is coming up soon (warrant about to expire) |
