Default Page 3-23 in the 2007 STI's Manual.

hey guys i went with an 07 sti coming out of an 04 wrx.

anyways, i'm reading my manual and i'm a bit confused while reading about the DRL system. for you 2007 STI owners see if it makes sense to you.

my car's HID headlights and tail lights come on with the DRL it's like i have an All time RL system. the only thing that i can see that the light switch doing is just turning "on" and "off" the lights in the dash. (in the first portion of this section in the manual it says that this shoul happen).

in the next section it then says that even tho there are DR, that i should turn on the switch because the tail lights, parking lights and side marker lights are not turned on by the DRL

I have a 2006 wrx and I haven't read my manuel since I first bought the car but I know that my DRL come on as soon as the e-brake is dropped and my tail lights blinkers etc all work without having to turn anything else on (other than the car itself of course).
I know there is a way to turn the DRL off but it's more of a "hack" I use that term losely.
I would just turn your car on and check to see what does and doesn't turn on when you drop the e-brake... (please do this with someone helping you; you don't want your car slipping )

On the 07, the tails and the headlights are always on. As you state, only the dash lights for the heater/stereo come on with the switch, as well as the little headlight indicator in the instrument panel. Earlier cars such as my 05 WRX only had the drl's on in the front. Maybe for the WRX Subaru figured that at night you would see that there were no instrument lights on, and remember to turn on your headlights. On the STi, the instrument lights are on all of the time, so it can be easy to forget to "turn on" the headlights. Perhaps that's why they have the tails on all of the time as well.

Default HID's

I know this is off topic but if anyone is looking for new HID for your STI or if you want good HID's for your WRX (high or low beam) you should contact the guys at LIC motorsports. They are trying to do a group buy for some HID's. I'm pretty sure they are on the forums here; ask for kevin, noah or adam; all good peoples.
