Default Newest Canadian member...'07 white/gold STi

Hello!
I just joined the site a couple of days ago now that I finally own my first Subaru. I recently imported a spankin' new white/gold '07 STi from Michigan into Ontario and I am going nuts waiting for customs to send me the second half of my paperwork. I've been a fan of this site for a while now and I did a lot of research here before I made the purchase. I'm coming from a 2001 Lexus IS300, which I thought was a sport sedan until I drove a STi, so it ought to be one hell of a spring/summer! I can't wait to make my "Camaro-crazy" buddy pay some respect to a Japanese car once and for all...

Anyway, just thought I would drop a line and introduce myself.

Must you incessantly pave my path? Welcome the new member but please, enough with the precursory introductions.

Welcome to IWSTI, Drev. You've been lurking for a while, so you probably know what I'm about to say. Please read the stickies at the top of each forums, and enjoy your stay.

What dealership did you import from, if I may ask?

Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to spending a great deal of time on this site learning all I possibly can about this car.

The dealership that I imported from was Fox Marquette Subaru in Marquette, MI and the salesman I dealt with is Spencer Prusi. He's actually a rally racer himself and he provided the best car-buying experience I have had yet. I would recommend both him and his dealership in a heartbeat! Spencer sourced my car from Hodges Subaru in Ferndale, MI and my experience with them was the complete opposite. I live very close to Detroit so I opted to take delivery of the car at Hodges. They could have cared less about my wife, daughter and I being there to pick up the car since we didn't buy it from them. They even managed to DENT the rear driver's side door right as I walked into the showroom and now they are giving me a hard time about covering the paintless dent removal cost if you can believe that. I would NOT recommend them, but that's just my opinion.

Aside from the minor dent (that will be fixed soon) the car is perfect and I can't wait to get the Lexus sold, license the STi and make it my daily driver. Some warmer weather would be nice too since I don't have snows!

Ha ha ha...funny meeting you here, Grant!

Hmmm...let's see...shall we find out which year is quicker BEFORE you gain your "horsepower junkie" status? SURE!

Question while I have you on here: What day did you schedule to have the dent removed? I know you said there were a bunch of other cars getting done the same day. Was it the 24th or 31st?

Hello and welcome from Western Canada!! You are probably waiting for Form 1,2,or 3 from RIV... Don't wait! Just call them and they will fax you the form that Crapy Tire needs to do the inspections. You can wait more than a couple weeks for them to mail it to you....

Just call them and they can get it to you that day!

Also, I would take your car to a place called Dentique http://www.dentique.net/

I went there to get some dents removed from my car and they are great!

I was referd to them by an auto body shop actually! The body shop was going to charge me like $1,500 because they would have had to take the entire quarter pannel off and re-paint it... which is never a good idea IMO.

Anyways want to Dentique and all the dents are gonzo and it conly cost me $175!!!!

Don't wait on going stage 2 ether!!!

Thanks for the heads-up on calling Customs! Yep, waiting on Form 2. I'll get on that today.

Actually, I already have an appointment with "grantelgie's" shop in London, Ontario (Tangent Car Care) to get the dent pulled. Grant's dent guy did work on my Lexus and my father-in-law's '89 Supra turbo and he did a fantastic job. Paintless dent removal guys seem to be hard to come by in my neck of the woods for some reason and are nowhere to be found in the yellowpages. I'll check out that Dentique site just in case though!

As for modding the car...I'm not too sure what I'm going to do yet. I'd love to go Stage 1, but we'll see. It took a lot of whining and pleading for the "boss lady" to OK the purchase of the STi so for now I'm just thrilled to have the car sitting in my garage! I don't want to push my luck! This summer I will be running all stock for sure, but I plan on owning this thing for as long as I possibly can so hopefully some mods can start in the next year or two. I'll have to accept being the baddest thing on the street in stock form for now!!
