Wow... talk about bringing a thread back from the dead... 2 year old thread. Anyways, according to Subaru and the service manual, no, you're not. But the enthusiast will tend to swap out that break in fluid after 800-1000 miles. Since you went past that point, every 3000 miles is more than enough.

Mobile 1 is also fine, as long as its a 50/50 blend or full synthetic. Factory oil is 50/50. M1 always burned fast for me though, so I stuck with factory oil for around 22,000 miles I think, then went full synth with Motul.

I know in the manual they suggest 2 oil change schedules. One is every 7500 and the other is every 3750. What does that 7500 apply to? I mean I drive my car pretty conseratively for the most part (except for a few occasions lol). I personally have been doing mine every 3500, but always wondered what that 7500 applied to.

Well, the 7500 is pretty much for every car but STI class cars, at least that is what the tech at my dealership said. They recently sent out a bulletin last year that USDM STI's should follow a 3000~ maintained schedule.

Do yourself a favor and get a Fumoto drain valve - it will make future changes much easier, and save you money on a new crush washer each time...

Best place to research oil questions is Bob Is The Oil Guy. The oil you should use and how long between changes completely depends on how you drive your car. The site will help you figure out what weight oil to use, brands to use (you don't always get what you pay for), filters to use, how often to change...

Really? that's the shortest interval recommendation made by Subaru that I've read about. I've only heard of 3750 and 7500. Is that just what a tech told you or did you read it somewhere?
