Search around. There are a lot of people running Stage 2 setups that paid nowhere near $4000.

it had a tbe with an ecutek... still seems to pricey though...

so basically what is primarily involved in stage 2... i know for sure, from what i read on this forum, COBBS ACCESS PORT, TBE.... what else? why are fuel injectors so important, which fuel injectors are good and which arent? and can i reach stage 2 with the sti's stock turbo? yall are probably thinking..

"damn this dude is stupid, why did he even get a subaru"!!! sorry for the silly questions yall , im just curious as to what i can do to beef my sti up even more... ne way's on with the questions ...

does protuning have to be done at a shop where i live??? how can i pick up the boost on my sti, i know i gotta get a boost gage, but is that the only way to raise psi's? and how much psi can a stock turbo handle, and when i upgrade to a different stage, can the stock turbo handle more psi's, or is it time to get a bigger turbo set up????

All you NEED for Stage 2 is, technically, a downpipe and Engine Management. Most people choose to do a full TBE, EM, maybe an intake and a protune. Stage 2 is on the stock turbo. If you do a turbo swap, you're (well) beyond Stage 2. Fuel injectors become important when you're running a higher duty cycle on your tune, as the stock injectors are already towards the top of their ability. in other words, if you need much more fuel, you'll need new injectors (and a new pump) to supply it.

A boost guage measures boost, it does not increase it. There are many ways to run higher boost, but that's really a very complex activity. A protune will typically fiddle with your boost targets and power band. I don't know what the top end of the stock snail is.

Somebody pwn me if I'm giving bad information.

where can i get a protune done, is there something i can buy to do it myself... which im assuming not, cuz its called a protune, but id thought id ask?

and would it be bad if i change fuel injectors regardless?

and if im not mistaken, there are boost controllers arent there, so would i be able to buy one of those to get more boost??? btw, thanks for the info!

There are self-tuners, and it can be done by one's self. However, I *highly* advise caution in this area. Check the ECU/Engine Management Forum for a primer and information from people who know 11ty billion times more than me.

Again, check the forum I mentioned above. I don't know what's involved in getting the ECU/injectors to play well together. Anything I say here would be speculation at best.

The ECU, to my knowledge, should be your boost controller. Again, check that forum. Read every thread if you can. More knowledge = less chance of grenading your engine.

The best thing would be to buy a Cobb AP and a tbe so you can go stage 2. If you then fell you want more then get a protune at a local dynoshop that tunes cobb, you can find certified cobb tuners on cobb's website.

If you want to get bigger injectors get them before you get the protune so you wont have to go back for a retune. And for the boost controllers, theres no need for one since they can turn up your boost with the AP.

If you feel you can tune it yourself cobb sells a Street Tuner which allows you to do so.
