IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2007 | i just got an 07 sti, had it for about a week! anyways... this is my first car with a turbo, and to be honest i know nothing about them, so im trying to learn as much as i can asap!... ive been looking for upgrades for my sti, but i dont know what to do to it.. there are so many things that i read by so many people.. for example i would like to change my bov, but i read that if i do that, i will lose horsepower! is this true????? i was in the process of purchasing a greddy type s bov cuz i like the way it sounds, but the guy whos was selling it told me that he wouldnt recommend me installing this bov with out an e-manage system! what's an emanage system, what does that do? where can i get a system management done? and y would i need that to install the bov????...i also looked into getting a TBE but i read it wouldnt work well with a stock turbo.. is that true???? my sti came with the SPT catback exhaust, and SPT cold air intake...from the dealership, so would it be best if i stay with that instead of installing a turboback exhaust??? dang.. there are so many question i wanna ask, but im too lazy to type! any info yall can give me would be greatly appreciated!!! i also wanted to know what are the best upgrades for my sti, performance wise...going back to bov's what would be the best recommended bov's for an sti??? or should i just stay with the stock bov??? please give me some info!!!! thanks! |

And yes, the engine makes the same power. Power = same. Formula = changed.

1- If it was a shop that told you that you needed an E-Manage to run a BOV then NEVER go back to them for ANYTHING. An E-Manage is an Engine Management system and you would not need that for a BOV... and even if you needed an EM system I would not go with the Greddy E-Manage on an STI. 2- You do not need a BOV...technically you don't have a stock BOV you have a BPV (ByPass Valve) and it should be good to well over 20lbs of boost. 3- A TBE will help the car make power but you will also want to look into some kind of Engine Management or a Pro-Tune at that point.

If you want a neat sound or something, search for "intake silencer delete." That should give you your sound without harming the car. EDITED to remove idiotic mistake Last edited by boondocksaint; 04-19-2007 at 11:03 AM..

| Junior STI Driver Feedback Score: 1 reviews | Hey guys, Complete Noob here, however I am quite a decent wrench turner. Anyway, I have found with turbo vehicles, reducing back pressure seems to be very beneficial. so here are my plans..... 1) Can I run a downpipe with no cats with the AP and not have any CELs? 2) Would an Uppipe (between the block and the turbo) be beneficial? (I have heard that it helps?) 3) What is the best intake to run? and can the AP make it safe? 4) Can the AP adjust the proper fuel settings for safe A/Fs? and if so, are there pretuned maps to possibly download? Lastly.......(sorry for the long post) 5) Is there anywhere on the forums with a recommended mod list? (what to look for, what to do and not to do, etc....) Thanks guys |

In other words, you can, but it's not necessary.
