Default Strange things I have learned about my STi

Does anyone else have strange things to add to this list?
  • The cruise control will hold 30mph in 3rd gear, smooth as you please.
  • The cruise control will hold only till 95MPH.
  • The little gas pump in the gas gauge has an arrow next to it which points to the side of the car with the gas door. This is not accidental.
  • It is possible to own the car for one full year before realizing that it has a 6-disc CD changer.
  • If the car is off with no key in the ignition, and you press the Trip button, the odometer and RPM where you set your rev limiter appear.
  • The glove compartment locks into place when open; feels like you have to break it in order to close it.
  • If you hold the hazard lights button down, but not enough to turn them on, your blinkers wont work. (Don't ask how many trips to the dealer it took to learn this.)
  • Some people don't notice the coin tray to the left of the steering wheel.
  • If you hold down on the I/C Spray button, it won't turn off until you let go.
  • The only way to completely fill the gas tank at the pump is to engage the gas pump trigger on the "first" clicker positon. Going full throttle with the pump will foam up the incoming gas and trick the pump into thinking the tank its full.
  • You have to take the key all the way out and turn car off or the gas tank meter wont reset.
  • The line below the "1" on the tach is the 750 RPM mark, not 500.
  • Why won't my parking lights turn off? Maybe it's because I accidentally flipped that switch on top of the steering wheel?
  • The force required to close the door with the window down is dramatically lower than that needed to close the door when the window is up.
  • If you disable the DRLs on an '06 STI, when you activate the "flash to pass" highbeams, the HIDs flash too.
  • If you leave a door open long enough, the dome light eventually turns off after flashing a few times in warning (and the beeper triggers in time with the flashing dome light). On the other hand, if you leave the trunk open, the trunk light will remain on indefinitely.
  • When you run low on intercooler spray water, the first indication will be the I/C Spray dashboard indicator lighting up intermittently when you accelerate hard or turn right hard. If you're driving through the twisties quickly it can startle you because you can't immediately tell which warning light just flashed before it's gone again.
  • If you can only afford two wrenches, make them 12mm & 14mm.
  • Ben, the forum admin, never knew the 05 had rear cup holders until he took his entire interior out.
  • If you have the factory optional boost gauge you may not know that there is info displayed on the outside temp gauge when setting the rev limit light/beeper.
  • If you set your HVAC controls to all to auto and the push and hold the second and third (the fan speed and the temp) each until they blink it will enter a full auto mode in which the fan, A/C, outside/inside air, etc. will adjust based on the temperature you select.
  • If you hold the highbeam/blinker lever half way in(towards you) it will only turn on one highbeam; if you pull it all the way both will turn on. ('04 and '05 only?)
  • The 'breakaway' outside mirrors will fold both ways.
  • If you do an ECU reset making sure you bleed any remaining residual energy in the system, and you then reconnect your battery connection and start your vehicle, the odometer trip (a) not (b) indicator will be identical to your actual mileage including the tenth mile digit.
  • On very cold mornings the car might move forward when letting the clutch out in neutral. This is because the cold transmission oil has enough viscosity to transfer momentum between the input and output shafts, even though no gear is engaged. Combined with the tendency of the brake pads to freeze to the rotors, this phenomenon can produce a rather loud *CLUNK* that will scare the crap out of you the first time it happens.
Thanks and keep 'em coming!

All the Japanese cars I driven (Toyota, Mazda, Subaru) have the same thing.

God do I have a story about the gas gauge thing.

I know someone on here found out they had a 6 disk changer a little after a year owning it. LOL
