Don't want to make this sound like an attack, but do you have the AC/ Defroster on? The AC typically has a clutch and when the clutch is engaged it makes a tick, at least it does on my mustang.

nah.. no A/C. the ticking is not VERY loud or anything but you sure can hear it if your windows are down and your driving next to a building or car.

That's just the sound of the engine getting ready to take off.......when you put your foot into it.

no, I know what you're talking about. the ticking is just the sound of the engine. its just what subbies sound like. its not really a tick but...well, I can't describe it but I do understand what you're talking about. and yes its normal.

The dealer will tell you anything to get you to drive away. Never listen to those idiots. They don't do their homework like they should

I have the ticking also, and I noticed that it goes away while your moving if you take the car out of gear. I never really thought much about it, and after I got the numbers I got with minimal mods, everything appears to be in order.

Agreeing with the above it is normal. Sounds just like my past three DSM's. I know the DSM's they blame it on the lifters not sure what we blame it on with the subbies.

Since this thread just got the 3 month bump; figured I'd chime in that mine ticks as well. Pretty much always has and I have 19k. Sounds like a honda after about 60000 miles when you haven't had the valve lash adjusted (even though the dealer recommends it at 90k I think). So also have to go with...
