IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I just bought my STi and i will be recieving it probably this weekend. Im definetly going to mod the car. I was wondering since i havent bought anything for the car yet and im so excited to start modding, is there anything i can do on the first day as far as modification to the car without spending any money? i.e. Removing stickers off front fog light covers or removing badges, or removing the intake silencer? If so how do you do all of these. Thanks alot. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | debadging is easy.... however the subaru badges are really stuck on there. Warm the surface area (be sure to not get it too hot, you should be able to still touch the area with your hand) on and around the badge that you want to remove with a blow dryer (sp?)... then take a length of fishing line (I am sure floss will work fine, but I have never tried it) and use up and down motions as you work your way across the badge (have somebody continue to apply heat while you are removing the badge). When I debadged my car it left a lot of the adhesive residue. For this just use generous amounts of bug and tar removal until you remove all of the left over adhesive (some people have said that goo gone works good to, but I have had good results with the bug and tar removal you can buy in a spray bottle). After you are done you should wax the area where the badging was removed. I debadged the SUBARU on the trunk of my 05' STi in about 30 min. hope this helps... Quote:

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | Fishing line is better, the flosh tends to break when you pull hard on it...Yes you can perform the ole "snorkle-ectomy" yourself. Do some searching and there are instruction on how to do that. From there it is going to cost. Nothing for our cars is cheap, so save save save! I would suggest looking into a TBE as one of your first mods....Welcome! |

Congrats on the new car! Your excitement mirrors that of most new owners. ![]() What year is your STi? If you have an 06, you're lucky that you don't have to contend with the infamous SUBARU on the trunk. Looking at the 06's so far, personally, I like it with just the STi emblem, or the STi emblem and the Subaru in the lower-left. I don't like the big stars emblem in the center (overkill with the back already saying Subaru), and I think it's strange that they put the Impreza badge under the STi. Placement seemed kinda random on the 06 to me. If you bought an 05, definitely get rid of the SUBARU, and a lot of people take off the WRX Impreza as well. I like how it balances out the STi logo on the right, so I left it on mine. I'm not a fan of the full debadge action, but that's just me. In the end, do what makes you happy! And post up some pics when you're done!

Forgot to mention that I also really like the 06 with the foglight cover STi logos removed. Cleans up the front end of the car considerably!

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | If it is an 06 model, don't debadge the rear Subaru "Star" emblem. This emblem uses two, locating dowels to mount it. These dowels fit into a couple of 16mm holes that have been factory drilled in the rear decklid. You would need to weld these holes shut and repaint, or swap trunks if you want a cleanly debadged 06. |

| Spec C Club | i would slap in some lights in the map and dome lights.. ok not free but like 10 bucks.. then your maplights actually work.. and put a blue or red light in your dome to match your seats/ gauge pannel... that looks hot. |
