| dances with roads | I've been getting a pretty consistent 24-25 mpg on my past few tankfuls of gas, markedly better than my usual **mumble**-22 mpg range. My sooper sekrit mileage trick? My mother has been in the passenger's seat! My dad has been in the hospital and I have been doing taxi duty. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | 3000-3500 is the key? Ah ha, for the past several tanks i have cruised at times below 3K. 2800 ish, thinking maybe it would help my gas milage. ( i was getting a lot of 19 mpg, but after putting on my ski rack that dropped to 17.0 and now about 17.8 with my typoon short ram air) i do live at high altitude 6200 feet, and drive to ski resorts at least twice a week, often 4 days a week. (that means lots of slowing down for tourists, then passing them while driving up a steep uphill, (or downhill, but its easiest to pass on the ups) and yet i do a Ton of city driving. i live like 1.2 driving miles from my office. (warm the car up for 8 minutes, drive it 4 into work, cool down 2) really doesn't help the gas milage at all. should i not warm my car up when i drive to work (i almost always avoid using any turbo boost on the way in , anyways) ? |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I wait until the really high idle drops off my car when it is really cold before I take off. This is on the -10 to 30 degree temps. At 0 it takes about 45-60 seconds to drop to 1100-1300 idle from 2k range. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I commute 100 miles round trip per day and with 7K miles on my 2006 STI, I was getting 22 mpg. I disengaged the auto DCCD and set it to the bottom green "0" setting and got 25 mph on the very next tank. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | I observed a ~2 mpg improvement in fuel mileage with my initial AP Stage 1 flash. Flashing to a Stage 2 (including addition of TBE) dropped mileage by about 1 mpg as compared to the Stage 1 setup. If I'm very light on the throttle, I can achieve 21 mpg average with my current Stage 2 setup. My highest fuel mileage yet has been ~26.1 mpg, observed in highway driving with the Stage 2 map in 93 Octane tune. Cruise control was used almost exclusively. I've yet to try the "high mileage" map. |

| STI Driver | Yeah when on boost or driving fast the mileage is downright bad. My modified Supra TT gets way better mileage and has a larger engine, 2-turbos, 6 cylinders, more boost, etc. Maybe I can't just stay off the throttle, but makes me scratch my head sometimes. I can ALMOST see the gas gauge moving down as I'm driving....I did notice a drop in mileage after Stage 1 AP. It's still worth it though! Last edited by garrettjj; 02-23-2006 at 05:25 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Just finished 5300 mile trip. Worst mpg: 18 Hillclimb switchback, enjoying the boost, smelling the tires. Best mpg: 28.7 (330 miles with 1/8th gas tank remaining) Columbus, OH to STL, MO @74mpg on cruise control, no AC (28 F at night). Shift at 3000 rpm ? No shifting, just sit there in 6th for 4 hours enjoying the Sirius, and watching the v1 light up from instant on traps in IN. Last edited by squid; 03-03-2006 at 07:47 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | concur with the OPEN DCCD in manual solution. I'm seeing a 2-3 MPG increase. This is on a COBB Stage 1, 06 STI, Stock wheels, FALKEN RT-615s (38F/32R psi) driving like a old man (only boosting to pass and fend off assholes that cut me off for doing 5-7 over the speed limit (no racetrack is getting frustrating) and using the cruise control ALOT. No AC, Driver Side Window 1/2 open In Hawaiian High 70s to mid 80s weather. ![]() Was getting ~21mpg.. now ~24mpg...... |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | That about sums it up. I used to keep the gas receipts in the car and average the last few fill-ups. It was a much more accurate average. Mine were usually within a few MPG anyway. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | It goes WAY DOWN...but that is only because you will find it necessary to be on-off-on throttle to hear the turbo and Bypass valve!!! Sounds great. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
